4 Courses to Help You Find a Remote Job

While it may be tempting to jump feet first into the remote job search waters, educating yourself beforehand can lead to less frustration and better results. Finding a remote job can require different techniques than finding an in-office job. You’ll need tips on where to find legit work-from-home jobs, how to interview for remote work, and how to properly succeed in a remote job.

We’ve found a few online courses to help you find remote, work-from-home jobs. These four courses are all offered online and can usually be done at your own pace and availability. Taught by experts in the job search and remote work world, these courses will provide you with invaluable information to get started on your remote job search.

Here are four courses to help you find a remote job:

1. “Finding a Remote Job” – Lynda.com

This course on Lynda.com, a platform designed to provide online courses in a variety of subjects, will give you all the tools needed to find a remote job. According to the course description, “These job hunting tips are designed to help you land a remote job and stay motivated, productive, and successful over the long haul as you work from home.”

With over an hour’s worth of information, this course even covers topics like how to negotiate benefits for a remote job and questions to ask during a remote job interview. You’ll also have access to information about specific sites where you can find real work-from-home jobs. Note that this course was published by our parent company, FlexJobs.

2. “How to Find Legitimate Work-at-Home Jobs” – Udemy

Udemy, another online learning marketplace, offers this course on how to find legitimate remote jobs. This course promises to help you “…discover the possibilities of finding real companies that hire people to work from home in customer service, tech support, virtual assistants and so much more.”

Finding a remote job often leads to finding job scams. In fact, it’s reported that for every one real job listing, there are 60 to 70 scam listings. This course will help you identify common scams—truly important information to have when searching for a remote job.

3. “Work from Home: Find Legitimate Telecommuting Jobs That Pay” – Udemy

Another Udemy course, this class says: “Inside, you’ll learn how to find work as an employee or as an independent contractor for a job that allows you to work from the comfort of your home.” You’ll find tips on home office requirements, managing your online job seeker reputation, and finding remote jobs on popular job boards.

4. “Job Search Strategies” – Lynda.com

Though not geared specifically towards finding a remote job, this Lynda.com course is chock-full of detailed information on finding a job that can also be used in a remote job search.
