About the role
The Manager - Policy & Research leads Australian Red Cross' public policy and research function, ensuring the organisation has clear, evidence-informed research and policy foundations that underpin our work.
Reporting to the Director Humanitarian Diplomacy and Policy, the role shapes and delivers our Research Agenda and policy priorities, driving the production of high-quality analysis, frameworks, policy positions and research outputs to inform humanitarian diplomacy, government engagement, and program design. You will provide leadership, manage the Adviser - Policy & Research, and foster collaboration across Directorates, State and Territory offices, government and external research and policy partners.
What you will bring
- Substantial experience in leading or managing a policy or research function in a complex organisation.
- Substantial experience in developing public policy positions in humanitarian , social policy, or related fields - in a government or not-for-profit setting.
- Advanced research and analytical skills, with the demonstrated ability to translate research and evidence into credible, actionable policy outputs
- Strategic thinking and political awareness, with the ability to anticipate emerging issues and position the organisation proactively.
- High level of interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and with the ability to prepare high-quality policy briefs, papers, and frameworks.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to broker alignment across diverse teams and external partners.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including managing staff and building capability.
