Contract WordPress Web Developer

Symplicity is seeking a WordPress Developer with full stack aspirations who will help us transform the education technology landscape. Our team is building the world’s leading student success software solutions. Deployed at over 1,300 colleges and universities, we have helped over 26 million students realize their dreams. The design team at Symplicity practices user-centered research, experience design and UI development in collaboration with our colleagues in Product Management, Engineering, Client Success and Sales. This is a full-time role on an agile team devoted to an individual product.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with marketing and design team to execute website strategy
  • Develop and execute a security plan that covers the following:
  • Keeping plugins updated (currently needs to be addressed manually on a daily schedule; applies to ALL sites)
  • Scanning for malware (currently needs to be addressed manually on a daily schedule; applies to ALL sites)
  • Keeping themes updated
  • Work with marketing and design team to deploy new website pages
  • Building and enhancing themes for our web properties using WordPress
  • Researching, designing and proposing solutions for new functionality
  • Managing the website’s continuous deployment pipeline
  • Triaging and resolving production issues
  • Ensuring pages are optimized for SEO and conversion
  • Proactively ensuring that the website is kept up to date, compliant and meets best practice

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of WordPress and common plugins
  • Proven experience building and maintaining WordPress sites and themes
  • Experience with experimental testing
  • Experience with modern browser technologies
  • Expertise in building complex, responsive layouts with CSS and HTML
  • Experience with Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics
  • Highly organized and ability to be autonomous in a fast paced environment
  • Strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and empathy
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience required
