Technical Project Coordinator

  • Location: Champaign, Illinois, or Remote, United States

Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and the Wolfram Language, is searching for a proactive individual with exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills for a new Technical Project Manager position at Wolfram Research. The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for planning and coordinating development that spans many branches of the Wolfram technology stack.

This position requires software or web project management experience, strong organization and communication skills, and the ability to interface with Wolfram’s technical and product development teams. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment and has an enthusiasm for new technologies.


  • Creating and maintaining project plans
  • Proactively managing the execution of project plans for multiple projects
  • Creating and maintaining roadmaps with input from project stakeholders
  • Helping to create and maintain requirement lists
  • Monitoring the status, risks and resources for the entire lifecycle of projects
  • Interfacing with team leads for resource allocation for various projects
  • Creating and maintaining tickets with appropriate deadlines, watchers and details needed to execute projects
  • Setting up development sprints/milestones
  • Preparing agendas for meetings and leading the meetings as needed
  • Collecting detailed notes from meetings with discussion details, decisions made, next steps and action items
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams within the company
  • Establishing, documenting and improving internal processes
  • Maintaining project pages and dashboards
  • Monitoring performance and project metrics
  • Reporting on project statuses and escalating any risks to senior stakeholders

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical field, mathematics or computer science a plus
  • Must have experience with the Wolfram Language
  • Experience in software or web project management
  • Strong communication, organizational and analytic skills
  • Ability to interact with cross-functional teams (for example, senior stakeholders, technical leads, user experience, design, web, technical content, quality assurance, support, product development teams, etc.)
  • High degree of initiative
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with Jira or other project management software
  • Experience with Agile or Lean User Experience development techniques is a plus
  • Demonstrated record of full lifecycle releases
  • Proven ability to release projects on time and with full requirements lists
