The Team

The Growth Team is in charge of expanding Upstart’s reach to the millions of Americans without access to affordable credit. We are energized by the prospect of breaking ground in our field and making a positive impact on people’s financial lives.

As the Social Media Associate at Upstart, you will be responsible for coordinating, executing, monitoring, and measuring best-in-class social media content across existing and emerging channels to drive awareness, engagement, and advocacy for Upstart. The role is highly visible within the organization and requires an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across Communications, Growth, Compliance, Lending Partnerships and beyond. You will play a pivotal role in contributing to the progress, momentum, and prestige of Upstart’s mission and branding, in addition to being the key point of contact for internal and external high-level stakeholders. This role will report directly to the Content Marketing Manager.

Position Location – This role is available in the following locations: Remote, San Mateo, Columbus (#LI-REMOTE)

Time Zone Requirements – This team operates on the West Coast time zone

Travel Requirements – This team has regular on-site collaboration sessions. These occur 3 days per Quarter at the San Mateo office. If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel related expenses.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Coordinate, schedule, and execute social media content across Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and emerging platforms
  • Monitor and engage with the social commentary and assist with customer support as well as provide insights and assistance in social crisis situations
  • Provide general communication support for internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage monthly content calendar to ensure all social content is planned and aligned to relevant seasonal, cultural, and brand moments
  • Measure and report on performance with comprehensive metrics and actionable insights to inform, optimize, and improve social media strategy and planning
  • Work cross-functionality with the comms, creative, compliance, and growth teams to align and execute social campaigns to Upstart product, content, and business while experimenting with innovative ways to build community and drive brand engagement
  • Maintain consistent brand voice, style, tone and visual identity across all channels
  • Foster new ideas and provide thought leadership to social culture and trends; stay informed on the latest platform best practices and cultivate strong relationships with platforms (Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)

What we’re looking for:

  • 2-3+ years of experience managing social media platforms in advertising, public relations and/or in-house (tech and finance experience is a plus)
  • Sound problem identification, judgement, resolution and decision-making skill
  • Has excellent writing skills and ability to take complex subjects and communicate them in a simple and approachable manner
  • Organized and accountable with strong attention-to-detail and effective at prioritization
  • Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and remotely on a variety of hands-on projects and initiatives with minimal direction
  • Proven ability to creatively problem-solve and achieve results in a fast-paced, highly collaborative and dynamic environment
  • Familiar with using social media management tools (Sprout Social, Sprinklr, Hootsuite, etc.)
  • Demonstrate willingness to take initiative
  • Passion and enthusiasm for Upstart’s mission to use Artificial Intelligence to expand access to affordable credit
