Job Description

Reporting to the Chancellor, the Provost leads Purdue University Global’s learning, student success, and governance. The Provost is the chief academic officer and academic leader for the university, responsible for academic quality and standards. The Provost works collaboratively with the senior administrative team for the advancement of the institution, continuously monitoring, adjusting, and strategizing in the areas of student success and graduation, the institution’s reputation, and census growth. All schools report to the Provost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic, intellectual and administrative leadership for the academic areas of the institution, ensuring that the University achieves increasingly higher levels of academic excellence and recognition.
  • Advises the Chancellor on all matters concerning University-wide planning, policy and operations; works with the Chancellor on the final review and approval of school operating budgets; establishes University-wide measures of institutional effectiveness and monitors progress.
  • Assesses student achievement and evaluates the results to improve program quality and make a positive impact on retention, graduation, employment, and Purdue University Global as a whole.
  • In collaboration with the deans, strategizes on the development, review, and implementation of new academic programs for the university and on the improvement of existing programs.
  • Evaluates and initiates employee engagement programs with the deans and academic leadership team. Performance indicators include the quality of faculty and administrators, and their performance as measured by their credentials and annual performance reviews.
  • Enhances the financial strength of the university. Performance indicators include persistence, graduation rate, enrollment and % of expense for instruction.
  • Contributes to the senior executive team and supports other functions of the university including marketing, admissions, student support services, operations, accreditation, and finance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctoral Degree (Ph.D./DBA/JD)
  • 10+ years related experience
  • Administrative experience at the Academic Dean level or above including budget responsibility
  • Proven record of a commitment to teaching excellence and scholarship
  • Knowledgeable about state of the art digital-learning and adult education
  • Experience with administration of university policies and development of goals and objectives
  • Understanding of educational analytics and experience in strategy development
  • Excellent communication, diplomacy, and negotiation skills, Demonstrated collaborative and inclusive leadership
  • Effectiveness as a team player and collaborator, including team mobilization, creative problem-solving, and nuanced judgment while maintaining an ethical and respectful environment.
