Scope of Work:

The HEDIS Clinical Abstractor—1099 Contractor will provide services to perform provider/practitioner medical record reviews, abstract data from the records to support compliance with HEDIS and other clinical quality measure sets, and document clinical data elements, as well as conducting IRR assessments. The HEDIS Clinical Abstractor—1099 Contractor are accountable for meeting productivity and accuracy standards and ensuring abstracted data meets documentation guidelines.

Project Deliverables:

  • Locate measure specific clinical data within a variety of provider/practitioner medical record formats
  • Perform provider/practitioner medical record reviews, abstraction and data entry
  • Accurately identify and document clinical data required by measure specifications
  • Review assigned medical records in order to abstract clinical data elements for reporting
  • Identify probable findings indicated by clinical documentation in the medical record
  • Identify, analyze and collect clinical information from the provider/practitioner medical record
  • Perform overreads

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the structure of medical records
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Knowledge of related regulations including HIPAA, CMS and other related regulations
  • Prior HEDIS specific or other medical record abstraction experience
  • Prior experience with medical record coding
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to identify problems, research and analyze issues from different perspectives
  • Ability to work independently and to establish, monitor, and achieve goals with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work as an effective team member with staff at all levels
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to effectively and competently handle multiple priorities simultaneously and the flexibility and ability to quickly adapt to changes
  • Results oriented and metric driven
  • Associates and/or Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare related field. Experience may be substituted for education
  • Active RN, LPN, or LVN license in the current state of residence
  • CPC, CCS, CCS-P, CRC, COC, CPC-P, RHIT or RHIA Certification
