Elementary Teacher – Remote (Work from Home)

Alpha Omega Academy is looking for a part-time, Elementary teacher to join our team. We are a Christian online school serving Kindergarten through 12th grade on the cutting edge of online education. This is a remote position allowing the candidate who fills the position to work anywhere in the US. The ideal candidate is a teacher who is dedicated to helping students be successful and is always looking for better ways to help students learn. Teachers at Alpha Omega Academy teach online courses engaging in both synchronous and asynchronous activities with students. A strong emphasis is placed on communicating regularly with students and parents.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Grade and provide comprehensive feedback to students in a timely manner and closely monitor student progress
  • Respond promptly to questions or requests from students, partner schools, parents, and team members
  • Be available for direct student phone calls
  • Log all pertinent information/communication in the Student Information System
  • Proactively contact the student and partner school/parent if concerns arise
  • Ensure that final grades are issued in a timely manner when a student completes a course
  • Hold regularly scheduled office hours each day, Monday through Friday
  • Follow and enforce all academic school policies
  • Participate in faculty meetings, hardware, software and/or educational training sessions as scheduled
  • Report academic integrity, cyberbullying, or other behavior issues to administration
  • Report suspected child abuse, neglect, or self-harm concerns as mandated by law
  • Maintain teacher certification, including any required professional development and paperwork required for on-time renewal.
  • To uphold the vision, mission, and statement of faith of AOA, using them as guiding principles for teaching practice and interaction with students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Flexibility in teaching approach to accommodate student needs

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to keep accurate, organized records
  • Satisfy all continuing educational requirements as dictated by state teaching certification

  • Ability to work well in a fast paced virtual environment
  • Experience with online instruction is desired
  • MUST own a computer that meets minimum technology specifications with high speed Internet access

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • MUST be certified to teach appropriate subject and grade level
  • Experience with online instruction is desired

Work Environment/ Physical Demands:

  • Work from Home Position
  • May be sitting for periods of 3-6 hours at a time
  • Work involves extended periods of computer use
