Our client seeks a senior-level Java Software Engineer to develop and maintain scalable Java applications within an automated DevSecOps AWS cloud environment supporting the Department of Commerce. The role includes designing cloud-native solutions, building CI/CD pipelines with integrated testing and security, implementing database and storage solutions, and ensuring performance, resiliency, and security across applications and infrastructure. The team operates in Agile, with a client-facing scope and a coding challenge during interviews.

Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident with an active Public Trust clearance. This is a contract to hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Rate: $60.00 to $65.00/hr. w2
Responsibilities:

• Design, code, and test scalable and reliable software solutions using Java technologies and frameworks.
• Develop and maintain AWS cloud-native solutions.
• Design and implement database and data storage solutions.
• Develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines with integrated testing, code quality, and security scans.
• Plan and implement automation and orchestration to streamline infrastructure provisioning.
• Ensure application, platform, and infrastructure scalability, performance, resiliency, reliability, and security.
• Install, upgrade, and patch platforms and infrastructure with automation for routine tasks.
• Configure monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.
• Monitor system health, investigate incidents and outages, and perform root cause analysis and resolution.

Experience Requirements:

• Active Public Trust or DoD clearance.
• AWS Certified Developer Associate or higher. DevSecOps certification desired.
• Extensive experience designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise applications at scale in AWS.
• Depth in Java ecosystem such as Java, J2EE, OpenJDK, Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, RESTful services, JAX, XML, Python, SOA, microservices, Rocky Linux, Amazon Linux.
• Proficiency with AWS services including ECS, Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, ELB, ALB, and Aurora RDS.
• Experience with database technologies and SQL, including Aurora MySQL and Aurora Postgres.
• Strong CI/CD and DevSecOps tooling experience: GitLab, GitLab Pipelines, GitLab Runner, SonarQube, Apache Maven, Tenable, NPM, Nexus Lifecycle.
• Containerization and IaC tools: Docker, Fargate, Terraform, OpenTofu, Ansible.
• Security and identity services: Okta authorization, Secrets Manager, IAM.
• Monitoring tools such as Systems Manager, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Splunk, QRadar.
• Demonstrated use of AI-assisted programming.
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience in Agile and client-facing environments, including Rally.

Education Requirements:

• BA/BS in a related field and 10+ years of related experience.
• Must provide proof of continuous residency in the US for the last 2 years.

Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
