WorkSafeNB is seeking to fill an approximately 18-month term contract of Health, Safety, and Wellness Specialist. Reporting to the Director, Health and Wellness, the Health, Safety, and Wellness Specialist is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of health, safety, and wellness programs within the organization. The primary focus will be on promoting a safe and healthy work environment, employee well-being, and monitoring compliance with relevant regulations.

Salary and Hours of Work:

• Hours of work are those required to perform the assigned tasks but shall not be less than 35 hours per week.
• Pay Scale: $82,971.90 to $97,614.00 annually.
   

Responsibilities

• Occupational Health and Safety/Psychological Health & Safety Program - Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Occupational Health and Safety/Psychological Health and Safety Program to prioritize employees' well-being and effectively manage and mitigate the risks associated with work-related injuries and illnesses.
• Training and Development - Support training and development of mandatory health and safety programs, directives, and third-party health and safety training to ensure regulatory compliance and internal compliance to WorkSafeNB directives.
• Wellness - Support the development and implementation of corporate wellness initiatives that support the holistic health and wellbeing of our employees.
• Statistical Analysis - Gather and analyze Health, Safety, and Wellness data from multiple sources to extract trends and organizational insights.
• Incident/Hazard Management - Support the Incident Management process to promptly capture, document, and investigate workplace incidents to prevent recurrence.
   

Qualifications

• University degree in Science, Business Administration, Occupational Health, and Safety, other relevant discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of work experience in administration of occupational health and safety programs.
• Experience in the interpretation and application of relevant provincial/federal health and safety legislation, standards, statistical information, and guidelines.
• Occupational Health and Safety Knowledge 
• Knowledge of regulations pertaining to Health and Safety and related compliance requirements with strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of policies, guidelines, standards of the NB Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulation.
• Knowledge of the understanding of the Workers Compensation Act.
• Professional designation in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., Canadian Registered Safety Professional) is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of health and safety; specific knowledge in ergonomics and/or physical safety hazards or organizational health and employee wellbeing is an asset.
