Virtual Emergency Management Training Instructor - Per Diem - (260000SL)

Job Description:
Fostered by the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, the Northeast Emergency Management Training and Education Center (“NEMTEC”) primary purpose is to provide a current, relevant, and comprehensive training and education program across New England. Through virtual, hybrid, and in-person modalities, NEMTEC will align and share training resources between the states, work collaboratively to develop and implement training and education programs to meet emerging needs, and manage an extensive curriculum and cadre to benefit the region's emergency management professionals.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is recruiting to fill the position of Virtual Emergency Management Instructor. This is a part-time, contract position with no benefits.
This position will be responsible for utilizing knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to maximize learning success and ensure the overall effectiveness of the course instruction. Instructor applicants of this announcement must be able to provide instructor-led content in a virtual classroom. Preference will be given to applicants with evening and weekend availability. Instructor applicants of this announcement must be knowledgeable and able to instruct at least one course from the curriculum of the National Emergency Management Basic Academy (see below).

The instructor is responsible for preparing the virtual classroom for training, delivering instruction in accordance with Instructor Guides (IG), Program of Instruction (POI), and the direction of the Course Manager, conducting practical activities, managing the classroom, coaching students, and administering exams and course evaluations.
Optional Assignments
- Based on his/her demonstrated skill set, the instructor may also be assigned, to perform course/program development duties, create and maintain eLearning curriculums, carry out After Action Report writing, and provide exercise support, such as control, evaluation, or facilitation.
- In addition to program instruction and exercise support, the instructor may be asked to serve in the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), Regional Emergency Operations Center (REOC), or in the field during times of SEOC Activation and or declared State Emergencies. Instructors will be assigned roles appropriate to their training and experience.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years of relevant emergency management experience (or a closely related field).
- Working knowledge of adult learning principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Able to commit to multi-consecutive day assignments, on varying schedules.
- Able to commit to weekend and/or evening assignments.
- A flexible schedule and ability to travel within the state is required to accommodate all assigned training and related assignments.
- Knowledgeable in computers, MS Office software, and audio-visual technology.
- Ability to facilitate virtual and hybrid training environments, to include mastering online training platforms.
- Candidates should have successfully completed a recognized educational methodology course

- Have a demonstrated work record to support the skills required
