About the Role

Title: Dir. Education Experience & Shows

Location: New York United States

Job Description:

The Director of Edu Experience and Events, K/Shu will be responsible for: 

  • Own the vision and execution of educational experiences across our professional and retail communities
  • Lead Academy programming/logistics and budgets on both the East Coast and West Coast, ensuring consistency and excellence across markets,
  •  Collaborate cross-functionally and execute brand events, from intimate activations to large-scale experiences
  • Build relationships with key stylists and educators to deepen brand advocacy
  • Manage budgets and vendors, delivering flawless execution from concept to completion
  • Measure impact and continuously elevate programming based on results
  • Collaborate cross functionally with Sales and Marketing to bring launches and brand ideas to life

 

This role requires a passionate, visionary, and highly skilled leader who possesses:

  • The ability to deliver elevated and highly experiential events, highly respecting each brand’s DNA, heritage, and unique aesthetics, while delivering strong results.
  • Strategic Vision: Deep expertise and a proven ability to design and deliver highly engaging, event strategy across array of professional and retail environments.
  • Advocacy & Engagement: Responsibility for driving deep brand engagement, managing and tracking the budget, and collaborating cross-functionally 

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Translate brand strategy into business-driving events and initiatives; develop best-in-class event programming across highly visible, multi-axe, multi-brand business unit.
  • Develop event guidelines to optimize visibility while adhering to brand codes and enhancing the end user experience.
  • Lead the conceptualization and execution of educational events, ensuring each phase from planning to execution is handled with attention to detail and creativity.
  • Partner with A and I/Agency to support from a pro and brand perspective 
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of events and identify areas for improvement.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Field and Retailer teams to align all event initiatives with product launch calendars and overarching strategies. Manage production agency partners and event vendors.

 

Education Experience, Academy and Event Responsibilities: 

 

-Strategic Vision & Event Roadmap

 

  • Vision & Alignment: Define and execute the overarching events strategy aligned with brand identity, business objectives, and marketing goals across physical, digital, and hybrid formats.
  • Innovation & Trends: Stay ahead of industry trends, experiential marketing innovations, and emerging technologies to elevate brand presence.

-End-to-End Production & Execution

  • Concept to Delivery: Lead the creative and operational lifecycle of all events, from initial conceptualization and storyboard development to on-site execution and post-event tear-down with creative teams or agency
  • Show Direction: Direct run-of-show logistics, stage management, audio-visual (AV) production, lighting, styling, and immersive guest experiences.
  • Education / Artist Booking: ensure Artists are booked and briefed on their involvement in the event. Manage model room and teams are booked and briefed- wardrobe, make up artists and models. 
  • Quality & Brand Standards: Ensure flawless execution that strictly adheres to brand guidelines, safety protocols, and sustainability commitments.

-Financial & Vendor Management

  • Budget Ownership: Develop, manage, and optimize event budgets, ensuring strong ROI and cost-efficiency.
  • Agency & Partner Negotiation: Source, vet, and manage external agency partners, production houses, venue managers, caterers, and technical suppliers.
  • Contract Management: Oversee contract negotiations, service level agreements (SLAs), and vendor performance to mitigate risk and control costs.

-Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Internal Alignment: Partner closely with Education, Marketing, and Digital teams to integrate events into broader 360-degree campaigns and all departments are informed.
  • Executive & VIP Relations: Manage high-level stakeholder expectations, VIP guest experiences, celebrity/influencer relations, and internal leadership briefings.

-Performance Measurement & Reporting

  • KPI Tracking: Define and measure key performance indicators (KPIs)—including earned media value (EMV), social reach, attendee engagement, lead generation, and overall ROI.
  • Post-Event Analysis: Conduct comprehensive debriefs and data analysis with cross-functional teams to capture learnings, ROI insights, and recommendations for future events.

Required Competencies and Interpersonal Skills 

  • Experience & Expertise: 10+ years of progressive experience in luxury beauty education, artistry, or brand management. Considered a recognized discipline expert within the industry.
  • Experience & expertise in Show and Event planning – both preplanning and onsite execution. 
  • Remains calm under pressure and able to problem solve or anticipate problems onsite with little to no supervision. 
  • Problem Solving: Proven ability to solve unique, complex problems that have a broad impact on the business, leveraging existing methodologies and functional knowledge to lead others.
  • Industry Influence: Capable of setting operational standards around which others operate within the educational and artistry field.
  • Leadership & Project Management: Demonstrated success leading major programs, complex projects, and diverse, multi-functional teams. May lead programs/multiple projects and/or diverse functional teams
  • Expert Communication: Outstanding communication skills, ability to present to large audiences, corporate retailers, and senior executives.
  • Business Acumen: Strong organizational skills, time management, and a track record of managing budgets and resources effectively.
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Additional Benefits Information as Follows:

Salary Range: 140,000-200,000  (The actual compensation will depend on a variety of job-related factors which may include geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level)
