Overview

Purplemoon, an IQVIA business, is seeking a Creative Director, Copy to lead the creative vision and execution across a portfolio of healthcare and pharmaceutical brands.

In this role, you’ll partner closely with Group Creative Directors and Associate Creative Directors across Art and Copy to inspire teams, develop strategically grounded ideas, and turn those ideas into standout creative across channels. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that the work is not only creatively exceptional, but strategically sound, scientifically accurate, and meaningful to the patients and healthcare professionals we serve.

As a senior creative leader, you’ll provide clear direction to creative teams, mentor and develop talent, build strong client relationships, and help raise the creative bar across Purplemoon. You’ll remain close to the work—concepting, writing, reviewing, presenting, and pushing ideas forward—while increasingly leading the people and teams responsible for bringing those ideas to life. This role is equal parts creative thinker, storyteller, mentor, collaborator, and client partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the creative vision and copy direction across assigned brands and accounts, ensuring exceptional, strategically grounded work across channels and deliverables.
  • Inspire and lead Art and Copy teams in developing unexpected, memorable ideas, partnering closely with Art leadership to integrate copy and visual thinking from the outset.
  • Own creative development from brief through production, including concepts, campaigns, storytelling, messaging, tactical execution, and opportunities to extend ideas across channels for broader brand impact.
  • Translate complex clinical, scientific, and strategic information into clear, compelling, human-centered stories.
  • Elevate creative quality by reviewing work and providing clear, constructive, actionable feedback that strengthens both conceptual thinking and executional craft.
  • Remain hands-on as needed, contributing concepts, headlines, messaging, scripts, presentations, and other copy.
  • Strengthen creative briefs to ensure strategic clarity while providing inspiration and direction for creative teams.
  • Present and champion creative work with clients, using strategic rationale and persuasive storytelling to build trusted relationships and demonstrate a deep understanding of their brands, business objectives, audiences, market dynamics, and creative challenges.
  • Collaborate across Account Management, Strategy, Medical, and Project Excellence to deliver outstanding work efficiently and collaboratively.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Copy team members through ongoing coaching, feedback, performance reviews, and career development, providing clear direction while empowering teams to explore, problem-solve, and contribute their own thinking.
  • Oversee team workloads and assignments, maintaining high standards for quality, responsiveness, and accountability while estimating copy hours and providing input on staffing, resourcing, and project planning.
  • Identify staffing needs and support talent acquisition, including interviewing and evaluating prospective creative talent.
  • Manage multiple brands, teams, and priorities, balancing ambitious creative thinking with timelines, budgets, business needs, and available resources.
  • Support agency growth through pitches, new business opportunities, organic account growth, and broader agency initiatives.
  • Champion innovation by exploring emerging technologies, AI capabilities, new platforms, and creative trends that can elevate the work.
  • Strengthen the creative culture by fostering collaboration, curiosity, accountability, ambition, and respect, while consistently raising the creative bar for both the work and the teams around you.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of agency experience, including significant pharmaceutical and healthcare experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional conceptual thinking, copywriting craft, and strategically effective creative work.
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing creative teams and major brands/accounts, with a demonstrated ability to mentor, manage, and develop creative talent.
  • Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to connect business, brand, audience, and creative needs while working both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced agency environment.
  • Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing, healthcare audiences, and the regulatory environment, with the ability to translate complex science into clear, compelling, human communication.
  • Exceptional presentation and storytelling skills, including experience presenting creative work directly to clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience developing integrated campaigns across digital, social, video, print, experiential, and other channels.
  • Experience supporting pitches, new business, and organic growth opportunities.
  • Passion for creating meaningful work that positively impacts patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
