This position is responsible for specialist Physiotherapy clinical service provision in the Emergency Department at Bankstown Hospital. This includes providing advanced Physiotherapy assessment and management for patients with complex, novel or high risk presentations.
- Leading innovation, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives to strengthen models of care and enhance patient outcomes across SWSLHD. Applying expert decision‑making, evidence‑based practice, and high‑level problem‑solving to guide care pathways and support multidisciplinary team
- Delivering specialist advice, training, and capability‑building for clinicians, students, and stakeholders within the district.

Overseeing, mentoring, and developing Level 3, Level 1/2 Physiotherapists, AHAs, and students to ensure safe, high‑quality, and contemporary physiotherapy practice.
The position is based in the Emergency department providing extended hours services from 1000-1830. The position will also provide clinical governance, supervision, and line management for staff across weekdays and weekends.
Ideal Candidate Fit
- Demonstrates specialist knowledge and high‑level assessment and treatment skills within the designated clinical area, particularly for complex or novel presentations
- Strong clinical skill base across all core areas of Physiotherapy practice
- Actively drives innovation, quality improvement, and evaluation of physiotherapy services across SWSLHD
- Provides confident supervision, teaching, and capability‑building for Level 1/2 Physiotherapists, AHAs, and students.
- Engages effectively with multidisciplinary teams, offering specialist consultation and contributing to district‑wide clinical decision‑making
- Applies contemporary research, advanced reasoning, and reflective practice to continually refine clinical care and professional performance
Selection Criteria

- Extensive clinical specialty experience in the Emergency Department including advanced practice skills and management of a complex Physiotherapy caseload
- Demonstrated experience in providing clinical leadership, consultation, supervision and education for staff and students
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and verbal written communication skills and the ability to build partnerships with relevant internal and external stakeholders

Demonstrated effective time management skills and ability to work independently and as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team.
