The Opportunity:

Washington State University and the College of Nursing invite applications for a full-time, 9-month, career-track clinician-scholar-educator who holds current national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. As a Clinical Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing, you will primarily work on the WSU Spokane campus. In this position, you will support the College’s mission to prepare practice-ready nurses and advanced practice providers who improve health and access to care across Washington and beyond.

You will contribute to teaching, clinical evaluation, mentorship, scholarship, service, and academic-practice partnerships that support the Family Nurse Practitioner program and broader College of Nursing priorities.

• Teach doctoral, master’s, and/or undergraduate nursing students in classroom, online, simulation, and clinical learning environments.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate and/or graduate nursing students.
• Serve as a clinical faculty evaluator for Family Nurse Practitioner students in clinical settings.
• Maintain an active program of clinical scholarship and disseminate scholarly work through appropriate professional venues.
• Serve on graduate student committees and contribute to curriculum, assessment, and program improvement activities.
• Provide service to the department, College of Nursing, university, profession, and community.
• Engage with health care agencies and community partners to support FNP clinical placement opportunities and strengthen academic-practice partnerships.
• Participate in clinical practice through collaborating community clinics when aligned with workload, expertise, and program need.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time (100% FTE), 9-month, career-track faculty appointment. The position is not eligible for overtime.

The position may include a hybrid work arrangement; however, the faculty member is expected to be on campus as needed to support teaching, clinical activities, student engagement, meetings, and other core responsibilities.

9-month Academic Salary: $91,394 - $94,546 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to mid-point of the salary range.

Required Qualifications:

• DNP or PhD in nursing or a closely related field by date of hire.
• Current national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
• At least two years of full-time clinical practice experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
• Meets eligibility requirements for registered nurse licensure and advanced registered nurse practitioner licensure with prescriptive authority in Washington State or through the Multi-State License, if not already licensed.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching, mentoring, and supporting students from varied backgrounds.
• Evidence of clinical expertise, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and clinical partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience teaching in graduate nursing education, including FNP or advanced practice nursing coursework.
• Experience evaluating students in clinical practice settings.
• Experience developing or maintaining clinical partnerships and placement opportunities.
• Record of clinical scholarship, quality improvement, practice innovation, or professional presentations/publications.
• Experience with interprofessional education or team-based care.
