Solve by Talent is partnering with the University of Sydney to recruit an Analyst Programmer for PHP Applications within the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) function.

This role will contribute to the development, support and enhancement of web applications used across one of Australia's leading universities, helping deliver reliable digital services that support education, research and operations.

The opportunity

A great opportunity for a PHP developer to join a friendly, collaborative team within the University's ICT function, working across a broad mix of applications ranging from legacy systems through to modern products.

You'll contribute to both new development and ongoing support, with exposure to front-end, back-end and some infrastructure-related work. The team supports a diverse portfolio of applications across areas such as research, science, health and administration, making this a role with real variety, strong learning potential and meaningful impact.

What you'll do:

  • Develop new features and functionality for web applications.

  • Maintain and enhance existing PHP applications across a varied portfolio.

  • Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve bugs and application issues.

  • Work across front-end and back-end development, with some exposure to infrastructure-related tasks.

  • Contribute to application design documentation and technical records.

  • Participate in estimation, planning, testing and deployment activities.

  • Provide production support and technical advice for applications in use across the University.

  • Collaborate with developers, project managers, architects, product owners and business stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose solutions

What we're looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience developing and supporting PHP applications.

  • Experience working across the full stack, including both front-end and back-end development.

  • Familiarity with frameworks such as Laravel and ideally exposure to JavaScript or Node-based front-end technologies.

  • Ability to diagnose issues, fix bugs and work effectively across both legacy and modern applications.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well in a supportive team environment.

  • Good time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work with reasonable autonomy.

  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement, learning and delivering quality outcomes
