Job Summary
Battelle's Health Research and Analytics (HRA) business line is currently seeking a remote Sr. Web Developer to support our government customer in Portsmouth, VA. This Public Health (PH) program enables our government customer to maximize readiness through force health protection (FHP) strategies and solutions for current and potential Public Health (PH) threats. The core scientific and technical capabilities and product lines in this program are to conduct Health Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Analysis; Disease and Injury Prevention; and PH Consultation and Support for the benefit of active-duty service members, retirees, and their families. Battelle shall enable these capabilities and product lines by providing Scientific and Technical Information (STI) deliverables, by performing Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and other Research and Development (R&D) related analytical services.
Function as a member of a collaborative team that focuses on the design, development and maintenance of web and mobile apps using modern cross-platform codebases and WordPress websites focused on health, wellness and readiness. Support the designing and refining of user interfaces to create clean, intuitive, and accessible layouts.
Responsibilities
- Designs, develops and maintains engaging, responsive, and user-centric digital experiences using WordPress and modern frameworks.
- Supports the development of wireframe and prototypes contributing to the overall UI/UX strategy.
- Build cross-platform web and mobile application from a single shared codebase (React Native).
- Provides web development expertise and develops solutions to a variety of complex problems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and translate user insight and goals in functional web and mobile experiences.
- Integrates APIs and data sources to deliver personalized user experiences.
- Participates in quality and usability testing.
- Maintains and enhances current professional and technical knowledge, contributes to team effort, and secures client confidence to provide quality service.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field; 5 years of experience in web development; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.
- Ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
- Expert in JavaScript and modern frameworks and libraries (React, etc.).
- Skilled and knowledgeable in the use of React.js and React Native.
- Expertise with WordPress content management system.
- Proficiency in HTML/HTML5, CSS / CSS3, PHP.
- Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite) and basic database design principles.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools and AWS.
- Proactive, self-driven and a great team player.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with wireframing tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD)
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines or Git workflows
- Exposure to accessibility standards (WCAG)
