Sr. Software Engineer (AI) (Smartsheet Inc., Bellevue, WA)

Develop application features that incorporate AI capabilities using technologies including Java, JavaScript, React, AWS, and AI frameworks (20%). Design and implement AI-driven product functionality, including prompt workflows, intelligent automation, and user-facing AI features (15%). Experiment with emerging AI tools and frameworks to prototype new capabilities and evaluate their potential use within the product (7%). Collaborate with product managers and designers to identify opportunities to enhance product functionality through AI integration (10%). Implement and refine prompt engineering strategies and AI-assisted workflows to improve feature performance and usability (12%). Build and maintain application logic that connects AI services with front-end components and existing product features (12%). Test and evaluate AI-enabled features to ensure reliability, accuracy, and alignment with product requirements (10%). Enhance existing product features by incorporating AI-based improvements that increase efficiency or usability (8%). Document AI feature implementations, design decisions, and development processes to support ongoing improvements and knowledge sharing (6%). Position is 100% remote; must reside in U.S.; and reports to HQ in Bellevue, WA. Salary: $161,250 - $193,750 per year.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus 3 years of professional experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer, or any occupation, job title, position involving computer software applications.

Must also have experience in the following:

3 years of professional experience designing and developing user interfaces for web-based applications using HTML, CSS, React, and Redux; 3 years of professional experience investigating issues related to computer software applications and product issues, analyzing code for origins of bugs, and recommending solutions to cross-functional teams; 3 years of professional experience performing load testing, end-to-end testing, and unit testing of software applications and web services using APIs and automated test suites, as well as SQL; 3 years of professional experience performing unit and integration testing for developing software components using JSON and simulating edge cases using tools including Postman for API contract testing; 3 years of professional experience designing and developing user interfaces for web-based applications using Java; 2 years of professional experience developing and deploying software on multiple OS platforms, and designing and implementing database schema, stored procedures, triggers and views in databases (including RDBMS, DynamoDB, or MySQL); and 2 years of professional experience producing design documents, writing code, building code, writing test cases, and performing unit and integration testing for developing software components using JSON and AI Tech Stack.

Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive incentive opportunity.

US Base Salary Pay Range

$161,250 - $193,750 USD
