About the Role
Senior Learning Experience Designer
Remote | Full-Time
The Senior Learning Experience Designer (Sr. LXD) is a key member of the Learning Experience Design (LXD) team who draws from experience to lead projects and deliver thoughtful learning experiences. The Sr. LXD brings applied knowledge to the role and works with clients across multiple sectors on small and medium size and complexity projects. The Sr. LXD joins the LXD team with a background creating superior learning experiences that are engaging, adhere to quality standards, use a variety of media, and meet time/budget requirements.
Responsibilities
Leads projects:
- Analyzes client needs and develops content design and development approaches that meet those needs.
- Coordinates, supports, and ensures the quality of contributions from multiple IDs and potentially other types of project contributors including video editors, voiceover artists, UI/UX designers, etc.
- Develops project workflows, documentation, templates, and other project supports.
- Conducts and draws from research to ensure projects are approached from justifiable pedagogical and technological perspectives.
Functions as an ID on projects:
- Executes design and development work on complex course and content development projects, including supporting media design and development.
- Initiates and contributes to development of ID process and protocols related to project-specific guidelines and expectations.
- Contributes to meetings effectively.
Leverages the following approaches to execute project work:
- Client facing – Drives conversations with clients and participates in design efforts with SMEs, faculty and other client stakeholders.
- Collaborative – Actively contributes to fostering a teamwork dynamic with members of multiple teams. Works to ensure priorities from all contributing team members are identified and supported.
- Supportive – Shares knowledge and expertise with the broader ID team with the goal of improving processes at the team level.
- Business-minded – Suggests changes to project workflow that positively affect company performance and proactively flags risks that may endanger project health to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Big-picture focus – Makes decisions that reflect an understanding of the strategic and tactical differences between different types of projects.
- Initiative – Accepts new challenges in the spirit of gaining experience and developing new skills. Proactively seeks out new opportunities to grow and better support project and team needs.

Willingness to travel:
- Up to 10% travel to client sites, conference attendance, and other opportunities.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Deep knowledge of instructional design theory and practices
- Experience with two or more of the following: Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, Brightspace or other LMSs
- Demonstrated experience with content creation tools such as Articulate Storyline or Rise
- Applied experience with media design/storyboarding and review
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Masters degree in any field plus at least 5 years of ID experience, or
- Master’s degree or Ed.D in instructional design, educational technology or a related field plus at least 3 years of ID experience, or
- Ph.D in any field plus at least 4 years of ID experience.
