We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and commercially-minded  Designer to join our Kidswear Senior Design team on a fixed-term contract and also a Womenswear Sleepwear Designer fixed-term contract. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact within one of Australia's most-loved retail brands, creating inspiring, customer-led product that makes everyday living brighter for millions of customers.

As a Designer, you will bring a strong point of view, deep product expertise and a passion for trend-led, commercially relevant design. You'll have proven experience working at scale, curating elevated and considered product ranges that balance fashion, value and quality for the Kmart customer. 

What You'll Be Doing

Reporting to the Design Manager, you will be responsible for the research, development and design of products across our Womenswear portfolio. Working collaboratively across Design, Product Development, Sourcing and Buying, you'll identify emerging trends, create compelling product solutions and deliver ranges that resonate with our customers.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading trend research, forecasting and identifying new product opportunities.
• Curating elevated, customer and product-led design solutions across Womenswear, with experience across Kidswear highly regarded.
• Designing and developing commercially successful product ranges for a large-scale retail environment.
• Translating trends into relevant, wearable and accessible products for the Kmart customer.
• Creating detailed tech packs and design specifications to support product development and execution.
• Providing fabric, material and colour direction to support range building.
• Building strong relationships and influencing key stakeholders across cross-functional teams.
• Championing continuous improvement across product, process and team culture.
• Presenting concepts, seasonal direction and product strategies with confidence and clarity.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for a creative, strategic and highly collaborative designer who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and understands how to deliver exceptional product at scale.

You'll also have:

• Significant experience in a Senior Design role within Womenswear apparel.
• Demonstrated success designing customer-led product within a large-scale retail business.
• Experience curating elevated collections with a strong understanding of both fashion trends and commercial outcomes.
• A passion for creating product that meets the needs of the Kmart customer through a customer-first and product-led approach.
• Strong trend forecasting skills with the ability to translate insights into commercially successful ranges.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Experience developing complex tech packs and detailed product specifications.
• Exceptional communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and a solutions-focused mindset.
• Experience with 3D design software is highly regarded but not essential.
