Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Program Coordinator I for the School of Arts and Sciences. The Program Coordinator I provides program oversight primarily, but not exclusively, to the SAS – Sociology Graduate Program by coordinating the administration of programs, projects, departmental operations, and/or processes, and management of the preparation and control of records, statistics, reports and documents. The Program Coordinator I prioritizes work, resolves routine conflicts and issues, and prepares and implements administrative guidelines and procedures for the program. The administrative support and supervision includes course scheduling and human resources/academic personnel related processes and transactions.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Schedules appointments and arranges and coordinates logistics for events and meetings.
- Creates and disseminates departmental communications, informational and marketing materials, and manages departmental listservs and databases.
- Provides office administrative support to the Senior Department Administrator and Graduate Director.
- Processes various administrative documents and data.
- Completes other work consistent with a broad understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the administrative, academic, or research unit, and the tasks and responsibilities of the Program Coordinator I in the achievement of unit goals.
- Assists in basic unit supporting research activities, performs some fiscal support functions, and/or serves as liaison within and outside unit.
- Works independently with minimal supervision, within established work parameters, with few direct instructions.
- Carries out routine and non-routine tasks with occasional review of work outputs by supervisor.
- Performs professional work that requires knowledge of general administrative/office management principles and practices and a good understanding, use, and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology, and applied bases of departmental administration.
- Participates in cross-training in key duties of the Sociology and Criminal Justice Undergraduate Programs so as to ensure effective coordination across programs and smooth department operation.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 or the applicable provisions of relevant collective negotiations agreements, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping and/or report writing.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience in a program coordination or administrative function, good communication skills, and computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications
- Website content management software. Understanding and application of University policies including but not limited to Procurement, and Travel and Expense Reimbursement. Familiarity with Rutgers systems including but not limited to HCM, Procurement, Degree Navigator, CSS, CourseAtlas, Salesforce, Grad Portal, Graduate Student Tracking and visa requests.
Equipment Utilized
- PC/Mac, Printer/Copier, CANVAS, SAS faculty appointment request systems, SciQuest, Oracle Cloud based applications, Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
