About the Role

Title: Principal Contract Specialist

Location: Strathpine (a suburb within the Moreton Bay region), QLD, Australia

From $117,990 up to $125,339 + 12% super (level 7) - with a 4.5% increase coming 1 July 2x

Permanent Full-Time | 9-day fortnight (RDO)

Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days.

Location: Strathpine | Free onsite parking and directly opposite train station

Job Description:

The Details:

Join City of Moreton Bay in our procurement team and help drive efficiencies that support our teams to shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow.

Reporting to the Commercial and Contract Lead, you will partner closely with key stakeholders to develop and implement contract management strategies, plans, and processes that deliver value, mitigate risk, and optimise outcomes for Council and the community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead the management of corporate contracts and supplier relationships, ensuring works and services are delivered in line with contractual obligations, performance expectations, and compliance requirements.
  • Review and improve specifications, contracts, frameworks, policies, and guidelines to drive continuous improvement and best practice outcomes.
  • Support the organisation in identifying, analysing, and resolving supplier performance issues and contractual disputes.
  • Deliver meaningful reporting and analysis to assess compliance, expenditure, savings opportunities, and benefits realisation-while identifying and implementing initiatives to drive efficiencies and value.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to resolve disputes relating to contract terms and conditions.
  • Develop and deliver internal audit programs for contract management practices, including maintaining registers of non-conformance and identifying improvement opportunities.

About you

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced commercial procurement professional to demonstrate the value of effective contract management within one of Australia's largest local government organisations.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing category strategies, contract management frameworks, and supplier performance management practices.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and understand diverse business needs.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability, supported by sound research skills.
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate, and drive outcomes in complex environments.
  • A confident and adaptable communication style across a range of professional settings.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach, with a willingness to contribute.
  • Local Government experience is advantageous but not essential.
