UnityPoint Health - Sioux City provides coordinated clinic, hospital and home-based care for patients in Sioux City and the surrounding Siouxland area. Responsibilities
- Hybrid position working a mix of shifts in the Emergency Department and Clinical Decision Unit (CDU)
- ED: 9-hour shifts Monday -Friday (8a-5p, 11a-9p, 10p-7a)
- ED: 12-hour shifts Saturday – Sunday (7a-7p, 7p-7a)
- Clinic Decision Unit: 6-hour shifts Monday – Friday (8a-2p)
- 0.9 FTE = 72 hours per pay period (every 2 weeks)
- Annual ED visit volume = 33,000
- Average ED patients per day = 89
- Average 1.2-1.6 patients per hour in ED
- 40 hours of physician coverage & 27 hours of APP coverage per day in ED
- Level 3 Trauma Center
- 22 bed ED + 12 bed clinical decision unit + 10 bed fast track + 2 trauma bays
- APP’s manage CDU with physician oversight
- Integral part of the Emergency Medicine team
- Ability to see broad range of patient complaints and practice to top of your license
- No call, good work/life balance
- Ability to work as a team member to improve the health of the people and communities we serve
- Evaluates, interprets and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care
- Patient-focused, friendly and willing to collaborate in a team environment
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Board Certified
- Minimum of 1 year of postgraduate experience, preferrably in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care
- Hold an unrestricted medical license in the state of Iowa
- Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the Advanced Practitioners field of practice
- Eligible to work in the United States
