Job Description:

WHO WE ARE:

New York Cares is New York City’s largest volunteer organization, mobilizing tens of thousands of New Yorkers each year to address pressing community needs across education, hunger, and public spaces. Through partnerships with companies, nonprofits, schools, and city agencies, we deliver high-impact volunteer programs that strengthen communities and improve lives throughout the city.

The Marketing Coordinator supports the day-to-day execution of marketing and communications efforts that build awareness, engagement, and support for New York Cares. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications, this role provides hands-on support across marketing campaigns, content, digital channels, reporting, events, and team operations.

The Marketing Coordinator helps keep projects organized and moving forward by creating and updating content, coordinating materials and logistics, preparing reports, and supporting requests from teams across the organization. This is a generalist role for an organized, detail-oriented early-career marketer who is eager to build broad experience across the marketing function and contribute to the work of New York Cares.

The ideal candidate is curious, resourceful, collaborative, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities while working with colleagues across the organization.

  • Support execution of marketing campaigns across email, web, events, and other channels.

  • Help promote New York Cares programs, events, and initiatives.

  • Draft, edit, proofread, and schedule marketing content and materials.

  • Gather and organize information, images, and other assets needed for marketing projects.

Content & Digital

  • Help maintain website content and ensure communications are accurate, engaging, accessible, and on-brand.

  • Prepare and schedule email communications.

  • Help respond to and route day-to-day marketing and communications requests from internal teams.

Reporting & Operations

  • Prepare recurring marketing reports and organization-wide pitch decks.

  • Maintain marketing calendars, project files, asset libraries, and other team resources.

  • Coordinate marketing supply orders, inventory, shipping, and distribution of materials.

Project & Team Support

  • Work with internal teams to collect information and complete marketing requests.

  • Coordinate timelines, meetings, materials, approvals, and follow-up for assigned projects.

  • Support events and special projects led by the Marketing & Communications team.

This list is not an exhaustive job description. It is intended to describe the initial projects and essential functions of the Marketing Coordinator role. Additional responsibilities and special initiatives may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and Marketing & Communications team.

Qualifications

  • Has a bachelor’s degree and 1–3 years of relevant professional experience in marketing, communications, nonprofit communications, agency work, or a related field.

  • Has strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Is highly detail-oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.

  • Is dependable, takes ownership of assigned work, and follows through on commitments.

  • Is collaborative and comfortable working with colleagues across different teams and levels of an organization.

  • Takes initiative, asks questions, and is eager to learn new tools, processes, and marketing skills.

  • Has experience with or an interest in email marketing, design, websites, and basic marketing analytics.

  • Is comfortable working with spreadsheets, reports, calendars, and project management tools.

  • Brings curiosity, flexibility, good judgment, and a solutions-oriented approach to their work.
