Overview
Our utility client is seeking an experienced Instructional Design Project Manager II to lead and manage instructional design and performance support initiatives. This individual will partner closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and instructional designers to develop, implement, and support training solutions that drive employee performance and organizational effectiveness.
The ideal candidate will possess strong project management capabilities, exceptional communication skills, and experience managing multiple learning and development projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Manage instructional design and performance support projects from initiation through completion.
- Partner with clients, stakeholders, subject matter experts, and designers to define project goals, scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Develop comprehensive project plans and monitor progress against established milestones.
- Provide leadership and work direction to multiple project teams.
- Identify project risks and issues, troubleshoot challenges, and implement effective solutions.
- Facilitate project debriefs and lessons-learned sessions to support continuous improvement.
- Collaborate across departments to establish training strategies, learning policies, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Research, benchmark, and recommend innovative learning approaches and performance improvement solutions.
- Manage the development of various learning solutions, including:
- Computer-based training
- Technical training programs
- Leadership and management development programs
- Performance support materials
- Apply instructional design principles, learning theories, and current industry best practices to training development efforts.
- Guide the creation of instructional materials, learning technologies, delivery methods, and instructional strategies.
- Design and review learning content that supports diverse learning styles and audiences.
- Conduct training needs assessments and analyze organizational development requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of instructional design tools, technologies, and methodologies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 2–5 years of experience in instructional design, learning and development, training program management, or related field.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while balancing competing priorities.
- Strong knowledge of training program design, development, and implementation.
- Experience conducting training needs assessments and recommending learning solutions.
- Excellent project planning, organization, and execution skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience utilizing:
- Articulate Storyline
- Rise
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Adobe Creative Suite products
- Ability to negotiate priorities and deliverables across multiple stakeholders and teams.
- Strong facilitation, influencing, consensus-building, and interviewing skills.
- Experience supporting performance improvement and organizational development initiatives.
- Background supporting technical or utility industry training programs is a plus.
