Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries is seeking an Instruction & Outreach Coordinator for the Undergraduate Library Services unit based in College Library.

Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Library Services, the Instruction & Outreach Coordinator connects campus-wide teaching and learning initiatives with the instructional and outreach programs offered by the Undergraduate Library Services unit. Core responsibilities include developing and delivering course-integrated instruction; leading classroom sessions and workshops; and coordinating tours, orientations, and other events that promote the Libraries' services and resources.

The UW-Madison Libraries lead in curating, preserving, and sharing knowledge through environments that inspire engagement, discovery, and learning. The Libraries deliver exemplary information services to advance the mission and strategic priorities of one of the nation's leading research universities.

The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties, including, but not limited to:

• Collaborates with Teaching and Learning Programs and other stakeholders to set short- and long-term goals for undergraduate student information literacy programs.

• Develops outreach programs to promote and educate the campus community about library resources and services.

• Administers daily operations for instruction and outreach within Undergraduate Library Services, including scheduling library staff to lead classes, workshops, and events.

• Works with Information School instruction field project courses, providing guidance and mentorship of practicum students who assist with classes in Undergraduate Library Services.

• Provides research assistance as an expert subject generalist and promotes information literacy for student academic success, with expertise in undergraduate research topics and resources.

• Contributes to campus and library committees and activities devoted to teaching and learning, and participates in local, regional and national professional development opportunities focused on information literacy and outreach.

This position is eligible for partial remote work. A remote work agreement may allow for a maximum of 40% remote per week.

This position is full-time, 100%.

• Provides specialized services utilizing a high level of expertise on a broad range of disciplines or in a designated discipline area (10%)

• May direct the day-to-day activities of student workers (5%)

• Develops or coordinates specialized projects or programs (15%)

• Develops, curates, and manages collections (5%)

• Oversees day-to-day functions of one or more library operations or services (10%)

• Serves as a resource to other librarians and staff outside of their unit on a regular basis (10%)

• Initiates and solicits input to modify policies, procedures, and assessment tools to improve workflows and/or user experiences (5%)

• Cultivates and maintains productive relationships with donors, collectors, vendors, and professional colleagues (5%)

• Obtains materials, resolves issues, and answers questions that are complex and highly specialized in nature (5%)

• Serves as a liaison to academic disciplines and/or other campus units providing information on collections, instructional and research support, and library services (10%)

• Designs, develops, delivers, and assesses instruction in a variety of formats to faculty, staff, students, and other patrons (10%)

• Serves on committees to advance librarianship at the campus, local, and/or state and national levels (10%)

Compensation:

Starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Well-qualified applicants can anticipate earning between $62,00- $78,000, with final salary based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

• At least two years' professional experience in information literacy instruction and/or undergraduate student services

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, campus partners, and other stakeholders

• Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize workload, manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively, and follow-through on tasks

• Experience leading teams or projects

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated professional experience with curriculum development and/or instructional design

• Demonstrated professional experience with mentoring colleagues and/or student staff

Education:

Master's Degree Required in Library Sciences, Library Information Services, or related field
