Job Description:

WHO WE ARE

Edmentum is a dynamic educator and student-focused company dedicated to tech-enabled learning solutions. Our goal is to ensure that all students have access to flexible learning environments and educators have the tools they need to support their students. We are on a mission to create innovative, proven learning technology, partnering with educators to ignite student potential. We are a Remote First organization with a strong commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

What You'll Do

As Director of Special Education, you'll lead a team of dedicated special education teachers and paraprofessionals, ensuring every student with an IEP receives compliant, high-quality instructional support. You'll apply your deep expertise in special education law and inclusive instruction to coach your team, strengthen service delivery, and make a real difference for students and districts across the country. This is a role where your knowledge, your leadership, and your care for students with disabilities genuinely shapes outcomes every day.

In this role you will:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of special education teachers and paraprofessionals, setting clear expectations for instructional quality, caseload management, documentation, and compliance
  • Monitor IEP service implementation to ensure instructional fidelity, appropriate accommodations and modifications, and consistent student support across all service models
  • Ensure services meet IDEA, Section 504, and ADA requirements; drive compliance readiness and continuous improvement in documentation and service delivery practices
  • Partner with district leaders to support implementation, respond to service delivery questions, and contribute to customer-facing conversations about program quality
  • Design and deliver professional development that builds your team's capacity in inclusive instruction, IEP implementation, and compliance practices
  • Contribute to cross-functional alignment with Curriculum, Product, and Support teams, ensuring special education expertise informs relevant initiatives

Who You Are

  • You hold a Master's degree in Special Education or a related field; a Doctorate is a plus
  • You bring 5-7 years of progressive experience in special education, including at least 2 years managing or leading a team of educators
  • You hold state certification or licensure in special education or special education administration (or the equivalent)
  • You are an expert in IDEA, Section 504, ADA, and the federal and state regulations that govern special education service delivery
  • You are a coach at heart: you set clear expectations, give direct and supportive feedback, and genuinely invest in the growth of the educators around you
  • You have experience building or improving instructional systems and compliance processes within a functional team or program
  • You communicate with clarity and consistency, whether you're working with your team, district partners, or colleagues across departments
  • You have designed or facilitated professional development that builds educator capacity in inclusive instruction and IEP implementation
  • You thrive in remote-first, fast-paced environments and bring strong organizational skills to managing multiple priorities
  • You have experience with virtual or blended learning models (a plus)
  • You are willing to take on evolving responsibilities based on business needs.

Pay range for this role:

$85,000 - $95,000 USD

At Edmentum, we are committed to pay transparency. The salary range provided reflects market research, the responsibilities of the role, and alignment with our compensation principles. Actual compensation will be determined based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience and skill sets. All compensation decisions are individualized and based on the specific circumstances of each candidate.

We also offer a comprehensive benefits package to support your overall well-being and work-life balance. This includes medical, dental, and vision insurance with various plan options, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, and a flexible Time Away Program along with 10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, 1 wellness day, and a winter office closure at the end of December.
