About the Role

Director of Marketing

Remote

WHO WE ARE

ActBlue is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating cutting-edge technology that fuels Democratic victories and enables progressive causes to thrive.

Our vision is simple: building change through the power of people. Since our founding, we’ve been building innovative solutions to revolutionize grassroots fundraising – if you’ve donated to a Democratic campaign or a progressive organization online, you’ve probably used our platform!

We believe in putting power in the hands of small-dollar donors by helping thousands of groups — from local candidates to national movements — mobilize their communities and create a lasting impact. Every member of our team is deeply committed to advancing our shared mission and core values. Together, we are shaping the future of democracy.

THE OPPORTUNITY

ActBlue is seeking a highly experienced, hands-on, and strategic Director of Marketing to own and scale our marketing function from end to end. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for brand awareness, demand generation, and revenue growth — with full ownership of the marketing department and a seat at the table with senior leadership.

You're a builder and a doer. You've led successful product launches at SaaS companies, you understand the full customer lifecycle, and you know how to translate strategy into campaigns that convert. You thrive in mission-driven environments and are energized by the idea that your work helps power democracy at scale.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with ActBlue's organizational goals, defining target markets and bringing our brand story to life across every channel
  • Lead the Marketing team in partnering with Product and Customer Experience to develop go-to-market strategies that serve our diverse user base, from first-time donors to national campaigns
  • Lead both brand and demand initiatives, ensuring a cohesive presence across evergreen programs and time-sensitive campaign activations
  • Drive measurable growth in qualified leads, pipeline, and revenue by developing and executing integrated campaigns across email, paid media, paid social, and content
  • Oversee end-to-end campaign management -  from strategy and creative development through deployment and post-campaign analysis
  • Lead top-of-funnel and mid-funnel programs including lead nurturing, automated workflows, and strategies aligned with sales data to improve attribution and reduce lead leakage
  • Work with partner teams to optimize lead quality, routing, and handoff processes -  improving lead-to-opportunity conversion rates across the funnel
  • Collaborate with the web team to optimize landing pages and the user journey using A/B testing, personalization, and conversion rate best practices
  • Serve as a strategic partner to business development and campaign teams to ensure marketing and sales are tightly aligned across the buyer's journey
  • Own and regularly report on Marketing KPIs to senior leadership, forecasting demand generation results and tracking progress against revenue goals
  • Procure, deploy, and integrate marketing automation tools (HubSpot, CRM, Google Analytics, etc.) to build a scalable, data-driven marketing infrastructure
  • Build and maintain dashboards to track website performance, campaign metrics, and ROI -  continuously optimizing tactics for maximum efficiency
  • Grow, manage, and mentor the marketing team, including a creative, growth, and market research team - setting clear goals and managing performance to build a culture of ability, agility, and humility
  • Cultivate strong cross-functional relationships across the organization, acting as a trusted partner and role model
  • Build relationships with client and partner marketing teams to secure joint speaking opportunities, testimonials, and co-marketing activations

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 8+ years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or director-level role
  • Proven track record of leading multiple successful product launches at a web SaaS company, with demonstrated impact on pipeline and revenue
  • Deep expertise across the full customer lifecycle and marketing funnel -  from awareness through retention and expansion
  • Hands-on experience with marketing automation and analytics platforms (HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, and similar tools)
  • Strong command of demand generation, paid media, content marketing, and lifecycle marketing
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable strategy and clearly communicate results to senior leadership
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing teams in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
  • A collaborative, low-ego leadership style with excellent communication and cross-functional partnership skills
  • BONUS POINTS
  • Familiarity with the Democratic political ecosystem, progressive organizations, or electoral campaigns
  • Experience marketing a fundraising, payments, or financial technology platform
