Responsibilities

Under general supervision and reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations provides leadership and oversight for a comprehensive grants program within the CSUN Foundation. The Director identifies funding opportunities, cultivates and solicits funders, manages relationships and secures philanthropic support and select sponsorships aligned with the University’s strategic priorities.

  • Researches, identifies, evaluates, and communicates prospective corporate and foundation funders and grant opportunities; develops strategies to support the University’s strategic fundraising goals.
  • Develops and writes compelling, comprehensive descriptions of programs and projects for use in grant proposals, letters of inquiry, case statements and stewardship reports and related materials.
  • Leads and coordinates the classification, review, approval, submission and reporting of all philanthropic grant proposals across the university community in coordination with the CSUN Foundation, campus leadership and colleagues in the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs.
  • Administers post-award stewardship activities and compliance reporting for philanthropic foundation and corporate donors.
  • Maintains accurate institutional records of grant activity, proposal status, stewardship activities, reporting requirements, and funding outcomes using University constituent relationship management systems and other reporting tools.
  • Collaborates with University Advancement leadership and campus partners to coordinate and develop campus-wide strategic funding initiatives.

Qualifications: 

  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field.
  • Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience; with two of the five years in a managerial role preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Leadership

  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to reach ever increasing goals and with higher education preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge in securing grants, using research tools, using proposal writing techniques and processes, utilizing technical skills such as common office programs, donor record systems (Raiser’s Edge helpful), tracking, and messaging applications and Internet research.
  • Ability and specialized skills to: building strong corporate and foundation partnerships; lead groups and multiple projects as well as function as a part of collaborative team; work with a diverse student body, faculty, staff and constituents.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities, project management skills, capacity to understand complex strategies, and ability to multitask and meet competing deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and experience making formal presentations. Ability to synthesize information and compose thorough, clear, and effective proposals and documents.
  • Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership.
  • Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach.
  • Demonstrated commitment to employee development, recognition, and accountability to further operational goals.

 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $120,000 - $130,000 per year, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
  • The position is currently hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
