As Data Lead, Research Infrastructure, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping how research data is managed, governed, stored and shared across RMIT. Working at the intersection of research, technology and policy, you'll lead the development of frameworks, services and infrastructure that enable researchers to confidently manage data throughout the entire research lifecycle, from creation and analysis through to publication and reuse.

This is a unique opportunity to influence a university-wide digital research infrastructure agenda, partnering with researchers, ITS, the Library and governance leaders to deliver innovative, scalable and compliant data solutions. We're looking for someone who can balance strategic thinking with practical delivery, bringing expertise in research data management, governance and technical infrastructure to support world-class research outcomes.

To be successful in this position, you’ll have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent extensive experience in research data management, infrastructure design or a related domain.

  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and managing scalable, secure research data storage infrastructure, including cloud, hybrid and preservation solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of research data management frameworks, governance and standards, including responsible AI principles and their application to research data services.

  • Proven ability to develop and implement metadata standards, schemas and interoperability frameworks aligned with FAIR and CARE principles.

  • Capacity to lead strategic initiatives, manage competing priorities and influence change across diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with researchers, professional staff, senior leaders and external partners.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
