This position is eligible for hybrid telework. Employees living within 50 miles of the office location listed above will be required to work in the office at least 50% of the time each month. Employees may reside outside the state of Minnesota if they live in a state bordering Minnesota and are within 50 miles of the primary work location. Existing employees who were approved to telework from a bordering state and more than 50 miles from their work location before June 1, 2025, may retain this arrangement unless they move farther away.
As a Data Collections & Reporting Specialist with the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), you will support data collections and the appropriate use of MDE data, including but not limited to, Adult Basic Education (ABE), Career and Technical Education (CTE), Rigorous Courses, Approved Alternative Education and more flexible learning data collections.
Duties will include:

Oversee project management of supported data collections in collaboration with division leadership, agency content specialists, MNIT and other state agencies, and local program coordinators and administrators to ensure data is accurately and completely reported.

Provide technical support and training for districts, charter schools and other local program coordinators and administrators in accurately and completely reporting required data.

Provide consultation to state policy makers, external partners, and districts and charter schools on data requests analyzing the linkages between supported data collections and other MDE data.

Collaborate across MDE and with other state agencies to ensure accurate and timely federal and public reporting of data.

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years of professional experience in data management, data collection, data reporting, or data analysis.
OR A bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related professional experience.
Experience must include:
• Writing queries using a programming language (e.g., SQL, R, Python)
• Translating business needs into technical documentation
• Providing good customer service
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with relational database design and modelling
• Experience with data visualization software (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
• Experience creating communication plans
• Familiarity with career and college programming (e.g., CTE, AP, PSEO, Alternative schools, etc.)
