Title: Combat System Technical Trainer

Job Description:
As part of our Defence Delivery group, the Combat System Maintainer - Subject Matter Expert/Trainer will be responsible for providing specialist engineering knowledge, maintenance expertise, and training support for Saab systems delivered to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).
The role bridges engineering, sustainment, and training, ensuring that combat system knowledge is effectively transferred to Navy and Saab personnel through high quality instructor-led training, eLearning products, and maintenance documentation. The position plays a key role in supporting system availability, technical integrity and long-term sustainment outcomes.
Further, the successful candidate will:
- Act as a technical subject matter expert (SME) on Saab combat management systems (CMS), subsystems, and associated interfaces
- Provide SME advice on combat system functionality, maintenance philosophy, fault diagnosis and system recovery
- Provide specialist maintenance input for corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
- Design and deliver instructor-led technical and maintenance training for RAN personnel.
- Tailor training content to meet audience's needs, ranging from technicians to engineering officers.
- Develop high-quality eLearning products to support combat system training and maintenance competence.
- Engage effectively with RAN stakeholders, including ship's staff, shore support organisations and engineering authorities.
- Represent Saab professionally in technical and training forums.
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About you
Your skills and experience will include:
- Experience working with combat systems or complex naval mission systems.
- Demonstrated maintenance experience within the RAN, ideally in combat systems, sensors, weapons or CMS related roles.
- Strong understanding of naval maintenance concepts, technical integrity and sustainment frameworks.
- Experience delivering technical or maintenance training to adult learners.
- Proven capability in developing eLearning or digital training content.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to varied audiences.
- Strong written skills for producing training and technical material.
As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV2 level or have the ability to gain one. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
