Job Description:

This position reports directly to the Dean of the College of Mental Health and is a full-time, 12-month tenure-track faculty appointment. The program is online with some synchronous meeting requirements. The Director of Clinical Training (DCT) provides academic and administrative leadership for the practicum and internship components of the Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MCMHC) program, a new program within the College of Mental Health. The DCT ensures compliance with CACREP standards, the variety of state licensure requirements, and institutional policies related to clinical education. This position collaborates closely with the Program Director to develop and maintain high-quality clinical training partnerships, supervisor training, and assessment processes that support student competency and program excellence. Clinical Director Job Duties:

Strong candidates will the following:

• An earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program (required). If the doctorate is from a related field, the individual must have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for at least one full academic year prior to July 1, 2013 (CACREP grandfathering clause).
• Current clinical counseling license and supervision credential in good standing with the relevant state board.
• A minimum of three years of post-licensure clinical experience, including supervision training and direct supervision of counseling students or pre-licensed counselors.
• Demonstrated professional counselor identity, including active membership in professional organizations and evidence of scholarly or professional contributions (e.g., presentations, publications, or applied research).
• Demonstrated knowledge of CACREP standards, clinical supervision models, and ethical guidelines for counseling and supervision. CACREP accreditation experience is preferred.
• Evidence of effective teaching, advising, and supervision at the graduate level.
• Experience in developing and maintaining clinical partnerships and training site supervisors in accordance with CACREP requirements.
• Proficiency with digital learning platforms and supervision technologies (e.g., Moodle, Microsoft 365, Zoom, Tevera, Supervision Assist, Skillsetter or comparable systems).
• Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, administrators, students, site supervisors, and community partners.

Strong candidates will be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Provide oversight and coordination for the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the practicum and internship components of the MCMHC program.
• Serve as the designated Practicum and Internship Coordinator as required by CACREP.
• Collaborate with the Program Director to ensure alignment between academic coursework and clinical training requirements.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures that ensure compliance with CACREP, SACSCOC, and state licensure standards.
• Develop, maintain, and annually review the Clinical Training Handbook to ensure inclusion of required content, including definitions, agreements, and evaluation procedures.
• Contribute data and documentation related to clinical training, practicum, and internship components for CACREP accreditation reports, self-studies, and site visits.
• Represent the clinical training component of the program at professional meetings and within external partnerships related to practicum and internship activities.
• Develop, evaluate, and maintain clinical site partnerships that provide high-quality, supervised learning experiences.
• Establish and maintain affiliation agreements in collaboration with university administration and legal counsel.
• Develop and implement procedures for site and supervisor approval, orientation, and ongoing training in accordance with CACREP requirements.
• Verify that all site supervisors meet program qualification standards, including licensure, professional experience, and supervision training.
• Engage in regular consultation with site supervisors to monitor student performance and ensure quality supervision.
• Implement student evaluation processes for practicum and internship experiences and site supervisors, using results to inform site selection and program improvement.
• Ensure compliance with CACREP standards related to clinical supervision ratios and group size limits across all practicum and internship sections.
• Provide coordination and support in addressing student and site issues, including mediation and remediation plans when necessary.
• Monitor student and site records, including liability insurance, evaluations, and supervision documentation.
• Oversee the collection and analysis of clinical training data to ensure program effectiveness and compliance with accreditation standards.
• Use program- and course-level data to evaluate student learning and inform curriculum and supervision improvements.
• Coordinate the preparation and submission of annual outcomes reports and accreditation documentation.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement processes grounded in evidence-based decision-making.
• Recruit, train, and evaluate adjunct faculty and site supervisors involved in practicum and internship instruction.
• Develop and facilitate training workshops for site supervisors on effective supervision practices, ethical standards, and accreditation requirements.
• Provide mentoring and consultation to practicum and internship faculty regarding student progress and course delivery.
• Collaborate with faculty to integrate clinical and academic learning objectives across the curriculum.
• Assist students in identifying and securing practicum and internship placements that align with their professional goals and licensure requirements.
• Conduct orientation sessions and provide ongoing guidance to students regarding field readiness, ethical conduct, and professional behavior.
• Address and mediate issues arising between students, site supervisors, and agencies as needed.
• Ensure that students receive formative and summative evaluations consistent with program standards and professional competencies.
• Teach courses in the MCMHC curriculum, including those related to practicum, internship, and clinical supervision.
• Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and university service activities.
• Contribute to scholarly activities consistent with the university’s expectations for teaching, scholarship, and service.
• Collaborate as appropriate across College of Mental Health departments and programs to support interdisciplinary education and training.
• Foster partnerships with community agencies, clinical organizations, and professional associations to enhance student learning and workforce development.
• Represent the program in clinical and community partnerships related to practicum and internship training.
• Commit to this position as primary employment and remain available during regular work hours.
