Overview

1. Consult with faculty and researchers regarding their projects and needs related to data products and processes, and their relevance to existing international reporting standards. Discuss suggested project designs, solutions, and develop requirements for indicators, where needed.

2. Work with external organizations to locate and acquire additional data products relevant to biodiversity decision making. Serve as a resource to the Center on improving these processes as needs arise.

3. Design plans and protocols for updating and interpreting data through all phases of the research lifecycle; review progress and assure accuracy and compliance of data being used. Assess relevancy to data standard frameworks.

4. Provide technical support and assistance to faculty and researchers in the Center on integrating emerging policy and regulatory standards in the development of new data products.

5. Assess methods for indicator development and learn and apply new research methods as needed.

6. Develop communication solutions for disseminating research and indicators across external impact arenas.

7. Serve as a mentor and resource to less experienced members of the team.

8. Assist in the production of research papers related to biodiversity measurement and reporting policies.  

9. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities

Bachelor's Degree in a related field and minimum of 7 years of related experience in academic or scientific research support or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Principal Responsibilities

1. Consult to faculty and researchers regarding their projects and needs related to data infrastructure and processes. Discuss suggested project designs solutions and develop requirements for new university needs and capacities, where needed. 2. Work with procurement and legal teams to assist researchers to locate and acquire more complex data resources. Serve as resource to university on improving these processes as needs arise. 3.   Design plans and protocols for maintenance and management of data through all phases of research lifecycle; review progress and assure accuracy and compliance of data being acquired and stored. 4. Provide technical support and computing assistance to faculty and researchers in the university’s social science departments and schools. 4b. Investigate new computing technologies (in areas such as hardware, software, and networking, depending on the candidate's interests and expertise). 5. Implement statistical methods for descriptive and causal designs and learn new research methods as needed. 6. Develop technical solutions for archiving and dissemination solutions for research across disciplines. 7. Serve as mentor and resource to less experienced members of team.  8. May perform other duties as assigned.
