Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Advancement, the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications will support the development, implementation, and tracking of marketing and communication campaigns that serve to enhance student recruitment efforts to increase enrollment and retention rates, especially among key populations and in key programs.
This marketing role blends creativity, storytelling, and human connection into a dynamic and energizing workday. You'll spend your time capturing vibrant photos and videos that bring our community to life, connecting with students to uncover authentic voices and experiences, and crafting compelling stories that resonate across digital platforms. Whether you're interviewing a student leader, snapping behind-the-scenes moments at campus events, or writing engaging social media posts that spark conversation, every day offers a new opportunity to create something meaningful and fun. This position is perfect for someone who thrives on creativity, enjoys being out and about, and loves turning real experiences into content that inspires and engages.
The incumbent will employ strategies to optimize the colleges channels including website, social media, digital communications, posters, strategic email, intranet and internal communication platforms. This position is also the colleges secondary Public Information Officer.
As an Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications, it is expected that the following qualities will be demonstrated daily: a high degree of understanding and empathy for all students, faculty, staff and visitors, as well as the ability to encourage the inclusion of all voices in decision-making, promoting equity in all areas, and actively working against institutionalized norms of oppression against historically marginalized people.

Initial Salary: $84,812.10 (includes 5% King County Premium Pay)
Supervising Position: Associate Vice President of Advancement
Essential Duties
Communication:
- Represent Cascadia at states Public Information Commission meetings.
- Write and issue media releases.
- Assist with public website and intranet.
Marketing:
- Work within a team to design, develop, implement, and manage seasonal campaigns.
- Lead the creation of compelling social media content that highlights student success, academic programs, and campus initiatives.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to identify and elevate impactful stories.
- Work with all departments across campus to ensure they have the tools necessary to successfully promote the college.
- Create marketing materials for other departments such as Outreach and International Programs, in partnership with the graphic designer.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Collaborate with Cascadia and UW Bothells crisis communications team to update, disseminate, and drill the colleges crisis communication plan.
- Serve as the secondary Public Information Officer (PIO) for the college.
- Attend regular FEMA trainings.
Performs other related duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Education & Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Communication, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and team skills.
- Experience developing written and visual content.
- Minimum 3 years in communication, public relations or marketing.
- Demonstrated commitment to and interest in diversity, equity and inclusion and the ability to support a multicultural workplace and educational environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in relevant field of study OR interest in pursuing a Masters degree in a related field.
- Experience working in K-12 or higher education environment.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to successfully communicate (written and orally) in a language in addition to English, Spanish preferred.
Physical Work Environment
Semi-Sedentary Work: Involves staying in a stationary position to a significant degree. Jobs are sedentary if moving is required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
The College is currently in hybrid operations, with many assignments completed in an online environment during this time. Full-time employees are expected to be on-campus at least three (3) days per week with the option to work remotely for the remainder of their working days. This position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both on and off campus and requires the ability to communicate in person or through appropriate means.
Positions in this class typically require operating a computer, communicating, observing, and repetitive motions.
This position involves exerting between 10-30 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to transport, put, install, remove, or otherwise move objects, with or without reasonable accommodation.
