Position Summary
Flexible work arrangements, including remote/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine’s Working Forward initiative. As such, this position’s work location is designated as Hybrid, with 1-2 work days onsite and 3-4 workdays remote depending on the work. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit’s business needs.
The main function of this position is to provide administrative support to faculty and providers in the department of Orthopedics. Position coordinates the daily office functions for faculty and providers. This position works independently and requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, decision making, discretion, problem solving and computer skills.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- This position requires a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and general office machinery.
- The ability and skills to organize and process work successfully and precisely is important.
- Good customer service skills and professionalism are must, as a large portion of time is spent dealing with the public, university and hospital administration, and referring physicians.
- Good communication skills both oral and written.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workflow as well as problem solve.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- A basic knowledge of transcription is beneficial in carrying out this position.
- A knowledge of medical terminology would also be beneficial.
