What you’re applying for

We’re seeking a detail-oriented individual with veterinary expertise to join our Pet Underwriting team.

This role is critical for ensuring the accuracy of pet medical histories, which directly impacts our ability to provide fair and timely claim reviews for our policyholders. You'll play a vital part in streamlining our underwriting process and contributing to the overall efficiency of our Pet team as we continue to grow.

In this role you'll

• Utilize your veterinary knowledge and strong analytical skills to meticulously review pet medical records for our policyholders’ pets

• Identify, notate, and document pre-existing conditions and any abnormalities in the policy files

• Analyze SOAP notes and lab results to extract and record all abnormal clinical findings

• Determine if medical record information is missing and proactively work with external teams to obtain the necessary documents

• Collaborate closely with internal and external claims support teams to ensure comprehensive medical record reviews are completed efficiently

• Report any discrepancies within the medical record regarding policyholder and pet information to maintain data integrity

• Successfully complete a minimum of 15-20 medical record reviews daily, contributing directly to our operational goals

• Grow your expertise in pet insurance underwriting, with opportunities to learn new systems and contribute to process improvements

What you'll need

• 4+ years of veterinary experience

• Knowledge and understanding of veterinary medical records, conditions and treatments, terminology, and lab work, including up-to-date knowledge on veterinary medications

• Comfortable navigating through computers, with the ability to troubleshoot basic issues and confidently learn new software programs

• Confidence in deciphering and comprehending handwritten medical records

• Able to perform repetitive, essential tasks with a high degree of accuracy

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to multi-task and follow up on pending requests

• Ability to adapt to workplace changes with ease and enthusiasm

• Experience working remotely, preferred

• Pet Insurance with a claims background, preferred

• Enthusiasm about learning and adapting to the exciting world of AI – a commitment to exploring this field is a fundamental part of our culture

Lemonade's US base salary range for this full-time position is $23.56 - $28.85 per hour, plus equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
