Additional Position Details: FTE: 1.000000 | Full Time | Primarily Mon - Fri / 8AM - 5PM
Please Note: This is a remote position. Candidates will be required to have reliable broadband internet and personal cell phone service. Remote work may include online training and working day-to-day operations during Pacific Standard business hours.
Salary Range: $23.28-$32.02 per hour, depending on experience
Position Summary
The Underpayment Recovery Specialist is responsible for investigating, validating, and actively pursuing reimbursement discrepancies to ensure accurate payment in accordance with payer contract terms. This role focuses on the detailed review of identified underpayments, preparation and submission of appeals or disputes, and follow-through to resolution. The Underpayment Recovery Specialist partners with Payer Relations, Patient Financial Services, and Revenue Intelligence to support recovery efforts, identify patterns of underpayment, and contribute to improved payer performance. This role plays a critical part in protecting revenue, reducing revenue leakage, and improving the net collection rate.
Position Qualifications
Required Experience
- 2 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, with a focus on one or more of the following: Claims follow-up, denials or appeals management, or reimbursement analysis
- Demonstrated ability to investigate claim issues and determine root cause
- Experience working with payer guidelines, contracts, or reimbursement methodologies
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies in payments and documentation
- Ability to manage multiple cases and follow through to resolution in a timely manner
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Associate's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or an applicable field is preferred
