We're looking for a Tunnel Engineering Geologist to continue their career at Jacobs - where we'll empower you to learn and grow in the delivery of tunnel engineering projects for government and global private-sector clients - to make our world better.

Based in Atlanta, GA, you'll work with other scientists, engineers, subject matter experts, and project managers on exciting projects in which you will learn from others and pass along your knowledge.

Responsibilities may include design and engineering analyses, performing, or overseeing soil, rock, and groundwater investigations, building teams of colleagues and subcontractors, coordinating and managing fieldwork logistics, data analysis and interpretation, technical report writing, and participating in meetings with clients. Safety will be your priority, as you contribute to operational excellence and maintain the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance in everything you do.

This position will require work in the office as well as the field, as required to meet project delivery goals.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in geology, engineering, or other closely related degree.
  • Professional experience with delivering geotechnical site characterization projects, including fieldwork methodology/procedures and assessment/evaluation of data.
  • Experience working in the field and overseeing subcontractors.
  • 40-hr HAZWOPER certification or the ability to attain this certification.

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Master's degree in geology, engineering, or other closely related degree.
  • Professional registration (e.g., Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer) or the intent to obtain and maintain professional certification.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with coworkers, contractors, and clients.
  • Strong attention to detail when conducting field work and evaluating data.
  • Experience evaluating subsurface conditions using software like Leapfrog Geo, Autodesk AutoCAD, Python, R, and others.

The base salary range for this position is $75,300.00 to $98,775.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
