Position Summary
The PWHL is seeking a Translator to support the League's French-language communications, with a primary focus on the Ottawa Charge and League-wide initiatives. This role plays a key part in strengthening the Ottawa Charge's connection with francophone and bilingual communities while supporting the continued growth of French-language content across the League. The pay range for this position is $66,000 to $72,000 CAD annually.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Translate, adapt, and localize content from English to French across press releases, website content, marketing materials, social media, and community engagement initiatives.
- Support the Ottawa Charge's French-language content strategy and bilingual communications.
- Translate pre-game notes, post-game notes, game-day communications, and media materials.
- Review and proofread French-language content for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to League brand standards.
- Collaborate with Communications, Marketing, Partnerships, Content, Ticketing, and Team Business Operations staff across the League.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Translation, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Linguistics, or a related field.
- Native-level proficiency in French and excellent command of English.
- 2–5 years of professional experience in translation, communications, content creation, localization, or public relations.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills in French.
- Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
- This position is based in Canada. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis. The PWHL does not provide work permit sponsorship for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with translation technologies and language tools.
- Experience in sports, media, entertainment, or professional communications.
- Knowledge of hockey terminology in both English and French.
- Membership in OTTIAQ, ATIO, or another professional translation association.
Flexibility & Travel
Candidate must be able to work remotely, with occasional on-site presence in Ottawa and at other League events as required.
