Join a global team responsible for ensuring the consistency, quality, and accuracy of content used around the world. This role combines language, technology, quality assurance, and project coordination, providing an excellent entry point into the localization and medical device industries while offering clear development opportunities within Global Language Management.
Main Objective:
Responsible for managing the terminology process for technical terms used by Arthrex, working closely with content authors and teams across the company. Define and follow processes to review terms proposed by teams, obtaining necessary subject matter expert input, and ensure that the terms are properly managed within the term database for use across the company. Ensure that terms within the term database are made available for use in other languages.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identifies new terms to be added to the term database by working with content creators, stakeholders and subject matter experts in order to establish and govern a controlled vocabulary and corporate language.
- Manages term proposal process and approves/rejects new term proposals from content creators.
- Mines and uploads new terms to the term database and compiles monolingual and multilingual glossaries.
- Exports existing terminology into various forms of output including glossaries and bilingual dictionaries.
- Documents terminology process, provides training on terminology to stakeholders and disperses term database information as necessary.
- Collects, monitors, and reports on terminology metrics.
- Assists with proofreading of documents.
- Manages and nurtures vendor relationships.
- Additional tasks and special projects as assigned.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Knowledge and Skills:
General knowledge of international standards in the field of terminology and translation management:
Experience with computer-assisted translation and terminology tools preferred
Experience working with terms/glossaries and term databases preferred
Excellent knowledge of English required
Professional fluency in additional language preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Team player and willingness to collaborate
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
Translation experience and/or localization industry experience preferred
Education/Experience:
- BA or BS degree in Terminology, Translation, or Languages required
- 1 year experience in the field of terminology and/or translation preferred
- Medical Device industry experience preferred
