Technical - Grant Writer

Location: West Virginia, United States

Job Description:

The WV Grant Resources Center at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Technical/Grant Writer.

About the Opportunity

This is a full-time remote position. The West Virginia Grant Resource Centers (WV Grant Centers) assist local government, nonprofits, businesses, and other eligible applicants with grant identification, writing, and submission; project development; and pitch decks to boost economic development across West Virginia and build stronger community capacity. The focus is on the pre-award process, helping eligible entities with economic and community development projects by putting together competitive proposals and supporting the submission of complete application packages. The WV Grant Centers are looking for a Technical/Grant Writer with a proven ability to work on several projects at once on tight deadlines; facilitate meetings; understand technical writing, deadlines, and grant funding criteria; use creative problem-solving; and design and develop projects. Strong written and oral communication and research skills, along with a professional, team-oriented mentality, are a must.

Some travel is required. This is a grant-funded position. To be most successful in this role you will have a passion for the State of WV and mission to serve at WVU.

  • 13 paid holidays (staff holiday calendar)
  • 24 annual leave (vacation) days per year (employee leave)
  • 18 sick days per year (for when you’re ill, for when you need time to care for sick family, for your own, or your family’s, regularly scheduled medical appointments. Who is family for the purpose of this leave? A lot of people in your life including immediate relatives and in-laws as well as others considered to be members of your household living under the same roof)
  • WVU offers a range of health insurance and other benefits
  • 401(a) retirement savings with 6% employee contribution match, eligibility to continue health insurance, and other retiree perks. Looking for more retirement benefits information? Check out retirement health insurance benefits, retirement income, and FAQ’s.

  • Facilitate meetings, training, and workshops on the grant writing process regularly
  • Manage the preparation of grant proposal packages and support eligible entities throughout the proposal submission process
  • Liaise and interact with foundations, government agencies, and other grantmakers
  • Interpret funding opportunities, write project narratives, and develop budgets
  • Guide and assist eligible applicants in filling out grant application forms for funding by public and private funders, and uploading documents into submission portals
  • Maintain meeting records, project files, and other documentation needed for project management and reporting
