About the Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced and commercially astute State Sales & Support Manager to lead our Victorian team and strengthen the performance of our independent member network.

Reporting to the EGM Retail, this influential leadership role will represent the needs of Victorian members, create business momentum and identify opportunities that deliver sustainable growth for both members and Hardware Group.

You’ll lead a high-performing state team, build trusted relationships with independent business owners and act as an important connection between our members and internal support teams. With a strong focus on retail and trade excellence, you’ll help members improve performance, navigate change and become the best stores in their towns.

In This Role

• Lead the Victorian sales and support team, creating a high-performing, accountable and member-focused culture
• Deliver state sales revenue, margin and expense performance, with a clear focus on sustainable growth
• Develop and implement state business plans aligned with HG’s broader strategic objectives
• Build strong relationships with independent members and identify new business and growth opportunities
• Drive retail and trade excellence initiatives across the Victorian member network
• Partner with the Store Development team to support network transformation and new store formats
• Lead state Village meetings and create meaningful engagement across the member network
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities while proactively managing business risk
• Manage state budgets and costs effectively, ensuring resources are aligned to business priorities
• Support member retention, succession and long-term business sustainability where required

What Are We Looking For?

You’re a strategic and purpose-led sales leader who understands how to achieve commercial outcomes through strong relationships, clear direction and genuine partnership.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Extensive experience in strategic sales, retail, wholesale, trade distribution or operational leadership
• A strong understanding of independent businesses and how to build effective partnerships with business owners
• Demonstrated success designing and executing sales and growth strategies
• Strong commercial acumen, including P&L ownership, budgeting, cost management and delivery of KPIs
• Experience leading, coaching and developing geographically dispersed teams
• Highly developed stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation capabilities
• The ability to identify opportunities, solve complex problems and translate strategy into practical execution
• Experience leading through fast-paced, changing environments and confidently managing ambiguity
• Knowledge of DIY, trade or hardware environments would be highly regarded
• A collaborative, resilient and action-oriented leadership style
