What you’ll need to succeed as a Customs Specialist at XPO
Minimum qualifications:
- 1 year of related work experience
- Strong computer and typing skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends
Preferred qualifications:
- 2 years of office experience dealing with corporate customers, or inbound/outbound call center experience
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Cross-border and customs brokerage experience
- Working knowledge of the transportation industry
- Strong problem-solving and investigative skills to bring issues to resolution
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Pleasant and professional phone etiquette
- Able to multitask, prioritize workload and remain highly organized

What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Assist internal and external customers with inquiries relative to international shipping, customs requirements, shipment tracing, billing and invoicing questions and requests for information
- Communicate with customs brokers and customers to ensure clearance of shipments to prevent unnecessary delays at the borders
- Recognize and resolve documentation errors
- Assist drivers with shipment and trip information relative to crossing the border
- Process shipments and trips to ensure on-time service to our customers and seamless border crossings for our drivers
- Maintain accurate shipment history and audit integrity
