This position is highly technical and will support solutions architecture for grid electrification projects including DCS/SCADA & automation, protection & control, telecommunication, cybersecurity, monitoring & diagnostics, etc.
This position resides with the commercial projects solutions team which supports Sales.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Technical Leadership and Bid Development – Spearhead the technical analysis of customer inquiries, RFQs, and tenders to determine proposal requirements, scope of supply, and optimal system solution configurations and estimations. Provide matrix leadership to a cross-functional technical team, including Solution Application Engineering, EHS, Product Engineering, Renewables Product Line, and other technical disciplines to ensure comprehensive and competitive bid submissions.

  • Comprehensive Solutions and Market Understanding - Possess specialized technical knowledge across Grid Electrification solutions and markets (as per job summary), coupled with strong commercial awareness. Assist in influencing overall strategy by leveraging deep understanding of customer specified requirements.

  • Innovative Problem-Solving and Decision-Making - Employ high-level judgment to make informed decisions pre-designing and estimating projects. Assess the quality of information, ask pertinent questions, and offer innovative solutions outside conventional parameters. May utilize various internal and external sources to construct and provide well-grounded recommendations.

  • Cross-Functional Team Leadership and Influence - Lead cross-functional technical teams for project solutions with minimal guidance, risk, and/or complexity. Communicate difficult concepts effectively and influence stakeholders' opinions on topics. Guide team members to consider alternative viewpoints and foster a collaborative problem-solving environment.

  • Technical Documentation and Risk Management - Analyze and respond to complex technical specifications and documentation to provide optimum technical solutions for protection & control system solutions. Ensure technical submissions are complete, timely, and fully compliant with all necessary details. Coordinate and follow up on post-bid clarifications, ensure the completeness of the technical package, and assist in identifying, evaluating, and ranking risks. Develop strategies to manage and mitigate risks, utilizing the R&O Register to estimate appropriate contingency allowances for inclusion in the Cost Estimate.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with protection & control philosophies, schemes, and standards

  • Experience with GE Vernova Protection relays including application, settings and configuration

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with local area networks, communication schemes, platforms and protocols used to provide local and remote interrogation with substation relays, meters, fault recorders and other intelligent electronic devices (IEDs)

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with substation network communication protocols and configuration (DNP3 and IEC61850)

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge and experience with CSA, ANSI, IEC and IEEE standards

  • Knowledge of SEL, Siemens and/or ABB protection relays

  • Knowledge of Microgrids, PMCS, EMS, SCADA

  • Knowledge of Cyber Security in the electrification realm

  • Knowledge of Conventional/Digital Substations

  • Knowledge and understanding of electric transmission system operation, maintenance, performance, power equipment and substation design.

  • Familiarity with Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) rules

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written (reporting, graphical) communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a team environment positively influences others and develops strong internal and external relationships.

  • Comfortable working in a rapidly dynamically changing environment with multiple, possibly occasionally conflicting, priorities.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a wide variety of issues on multiple technical tenders simultaneously.

  • Capable of generating network architecture and panel layout drawings with Visio/Acad.

  • Capable of generating protection single line diagrams.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
