Your opportunity:

This role will contribute to establishing a long-term technology strategy for the Radio Access Network including the elements of radio spectrum, platforms, standards adoption, topology and infrastructure design and thus facilitate TPG maintaining a viable, competitive and optimal return on investment technology path. This accountability extends to undertaking analysis, creating tools and models, writing documents and board papers, business case preparation, and influencing industry policy pertaining to spectrum and technology. You will also represent TPG in key industry and internal forums.

You'll make impact by:

  • Contribute to the team’s comprehensive Access Network technology strategy including radio spectrum, platforms, topological and infrastructure design for both terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks.
  • Liaise with managers, engineering, policy and legal domains. Facilitate the derivation of business level and technology requirements for emerging use cases, especially for 6G, by coordinating input and endorsement from other strategy, business, consumer and finance representatives.
  • Track evolving technological trends, derive strategic roadmaps, and communicate them to executive and management audiences.
  • Maintain vendor engagement for roadmaps and setup technical trials. Draft Statements of Work for strategic due diligence to be performed by vendors and academia, manage the acquisition and engagement process.
  • Conceive and champion strategic initiatives that improve investment return, network performance and customer experience. Create or manage the development of financial business cases to support proposals.
  • Participate in and influence industry forums for standards, spectrum, EME, and infrastructure to benefit TPG’s business and technology strategic objectives.
  • Prepare and review draft responses to government regulatory consultations of both a public and confidential nature. Provide technology thought leadership for policy matters.
  • Support the preparation and execution of spectrum auctions. Create, validate and maintain supporting tools.

  • Be familiar with policies and procedures, as well as completing any associated training, as communicated or made available on the intranet and our learning systems

What you’ll bring:

  • Preferably at least 15 years telecommunications industry experience.
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree, post-graduate qualifications and research experience will be favourably looked upon.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills effective up to senior levels of leadership with both technology and non-technology domains.
  • Demonstration of inter-personal skills e.g. vendor management experience or participation in industry forums.
  • Experience with preparing cost models for network or other infrastructures.
  • Subject matter expertise in radio platforms, radio science, and propagation physics.
  • Experience in the design, development and testing of radio platforms or networks, familiarity with 3GPP standards and processes.

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Familiarity with IT and Core Network platforms and architectures,
  • A high level of mathematical modelling and data analysis capability including statistical and time series models.
