Description
As a (Senior) People & Operations Manager (m/f/d), you will play a key role at the interface between People and Operations at Cara Care. This position is initially a 24-month parental leave replacement with the option to extend. While the role is primarily remote, it requires that you live in or around Berlin, as our Berlin office serves as our operational base for regular collaboration and team communication.
In this role, you will be responsible for the further development and implementation of our People function, while simultaneously supporting the development of our operational structures and processes. You will ensure that our employees, our HR processes, and our internal procedures are professionally structured, and that Cara Care as an organization continuously becomes more efficient and scalable.
You will work closely with the leadership team and our Head of Operations, taking an active role in shaping processes, structures, and collaboration. You will combine strong operational implementation skills with an eye for improvement potential and sustainable development.
You work independently, have a good sense for people and situations, and feel at home in both operational people and operations topics as well as in the design of processes, structures and collaboration.
What you will do with us:
People
- Responsibility for operational and strategic people management throughout the entire employee lifecycle – from onboarding to the support and development of our employees, all the way to offboarding.
- Responsibility for the entire hiring process – from coordinating new roles to applicant management and interview support, all the way to the successful hiring of new team members.
- Contact person and sparring partner for employees and managers in all personnel-related matters
- Responsibility for the preparation and coordination of the monthly payroll via Personio Payroll, as well as ensuring professional HR administration and compliance with labor law regulations.
- Further development of our people processes, HR guidelines and internal structures with a focus on scalability, clarity and an excellent employee experience.
- Proactive development of our organizational structure, collaboration and leadership with the aim of continuously developing Cara Care and making it a more efficient organization.
- Development and improvement of performance and development structures (e.g., feedback, target and review processes) with a focus on excellence, transparency and continuous employee development.
- Design and implementation of initiatives to further develop our corporate culture, employee retention and engagement with the goal of creating a strong and sustainable employee experience.
Operations
- Close collaboration with our Head of Operations to support day-to-day operations as well as overarching organizational and strategic issues.
- Support in the design, implementation and continuous development of company-wide internal processes, procedures, tools and workflows in close coordination with the operations team.
- Independent handling of operational tasks and projects with an eye for where action is needed, as well as the ability to proactively structure, prioritize, and efficiently drive forward topics.
Requirements
What you should bring:
- Several years of experience (approx. 4-5 years) in the field of People / HR / People Operations, ideally in a small or medium-sized enterprise or a dynamic start-up or scale-up environment.
- Excellent knowledge throughout the entire employee lifecycle – especially in recruiting, operational HR management, and the support of employees and managers.
- Experience in independently preparing and coordinating payroll processes (e.g., via Personio Payroll) and a good understanding of basic labor law principles.
- Experience in a fast-paced, changing environment with a high degree of personal responsibility and pragmatism
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly build trust and interact confidently and professionally with different stakeholders.
- The ability to break down even complex issues and processes to their essentials and to communicate them clearly, understandably, and in a motivating way.
- A structured, proactive work style with a high degree of ownership and the ambition to complete things efficiently and effectively.
- Enjoyment in designing, improving and implementing processes – without waiting for perfect conditions.
- The ability to independently drive forward topics and tasks, as well as to combine pragmatism and high quality standards.
- Interest in delving into operational business processes in addition to people-related topics and working closely with the operations team.
- Prior experience or a strong affinity for operational or cross-functional process and project work is a plus, but not a must.
- Fluent German skills (native speaker or comparable level) and very good English skills, both spoken and written.
Why this role?
This position offers you the opportunity to make a real impact on two crucial areas of our company: People and Operations.
You will assume full responsibility for our People initiatives during parental leave cover and actively contribute to how we attract, develop, and retain employees.
At the same time, you will work closely with our Operations team, supporting the further development of our internal processes and ensuring their smooth operation in daily practice.
If you are looking for a role where you can contribute to operational excellence, take on responsibility, and truly make a difference in a dynamic environment, we look forward to hearing from you.
