The impact you will have: Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic Senior Director, Global Scientific Communications and Publications expert to join our Global Medical Affairs team and lead a high-functioning communications/publications/congress team. The Senior Director, Global Scientific Communications and Publications is a strategic leader within Global Medical Affairs responsible for shaping and executing the global scientific narrative across the product lifecycle. This role ensures the timely, accurate, and impactful dissemination of clinical and scientific data to external stakeholders, while maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity and compliance. They will be responsible for the strategic planning and execution of publication and scientific communication plans and tactics, including but not limited to manuscripts, congress presentations, core slide decks, scientific platform, booth content, MSL tools for external use, company organized symposia, and ad-board content. The role oversees a high-impact team and partners cross-functionally and externally to drive an integrated publications and scientific communications strategy, translating complex data into compelling evidence that supports clinical adoption, informs healthcare decision-making, and differentiates the company's portfolio globally. This leader will engage with multiple internal and external stakeholders such as Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Translational Research, Biology Research, HEOR, Biostatistics, Training, external authors, investigators, publishers, and medical communications agencies. What you will do: Lead and develop a high-performing global Scientific Communications and Publications team, setting clear strategic direction, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with Medical Affairs and enterprise objectives Define and lead the global publications and scientific communications strategy, ensuring alignment with asset, lifecycle, and corporate priorities Direct end-to-end global publication planning and execution (manuscripts, abstracts, congress strategy), ensuring compliance with ICMJE/GPP and alignment to key milestones Oversee development of high-impact scientific materials and ensure consistency, accuracy, and clarity of messaging across Medical Affairs deliverables Collaborate with Clinical, Commercial, Regulatory, and Market Access to align on data communication while maintaining clear medical/commercial boundaries Partner with KOLs, investigators, and authors to shape content and represent the company in scientific forums Ensure compliant processes and oversight of vendors/agencies; build and lead a high-performing team (as applicable) What you bring: Advanced degree (M.D., PhD, Pharm D) (desirable areas of experience include Rare Disease or Hematology). 10 years in biotech/pharma within Medical Affairs, Scientific Communications, or Publications Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills are required for this high visibility position. The ability to connect, balance, and integrate the needs of multiple, diverse stakeholder groups Proven leadership of global publications strategy, including congress planning and authorship engagement Deep knowledge of ICMJE, GPP, and global compliance standards Strong track record of cross-functional influence, external engagement, and operating effectively in a matrixed biotech environment Experience supporting late-stage assets and/or product launches preferred Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix environment with cross-functional teams. Demonstrated leadership experience. Approximately 10% annual travel (domestic and international) is required for this position. This role comes with the option of being either remote in the US or hybrid in our Cambridge Headquarters. Hybrid schedules vary but are generally less than 3 days per week onsite and hybrid employees are expected to live within commutable distance of our Cambridge Headquarters. Remote employees work entirely from home except for attending Company sponsored events/ meetings. This includes base salary and both short- and long-term incentives that are connected to our business strategy and vary based on individual and company performance. The current base salary range for this position is expected to be between $229,562 and $344,342; final salary will be determined based on various factors including, but not limited to, years of relevant experience, job knowledge, skills and proficiency, degree/education, and internal comparators.
