Position Summary
The Senior Communications Coordinator for Clinical Operations plays a critical role in planning, developing and executing communications strategies that support WashU Medicine’s clinical operations. This role serves as a bridge between clinical leadership, patient-facing teams and stakeholders, translating complex clinical and operational information into clear, engaging content. The Senior Communications Coordinator helps to maintain WashU Medicine’s reputation, fosters alignment across teams and ensures consistency, clarity, and impact in internal and external messaging.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Develop, write and execute communication plans in support of clinical operations initiatives, including but not limited to process changes, patient service updates, quality improvement, new program launches and policy changes.

Create, write, edit, and proofread content for various channels (e.g., newsletters, email updates, website, intranet, digital signage, social media, internal memos) that is accurate, timely, and aligned with WashU Medicine’s voice and brand.

Serve as communications liaison between clinical operations leadership and stakeholders.

Coordinate with marketing, media relations, and digital teams to develop creative assets (graphics, infographics, slide decks) and manage workflows to meet publication deadlines.

Assist with crisis communications or urgent operational communications (e.g. service interruptions, clinical policy changes) ensuring messaging is clear, accurate, and timely.

Uphold consistency in messaging, branding, and adherence to institutional policies (including confidentiality, compliance, HIPAA as relevant).

Develop, write and maintain clinic based patient education materials

Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range
$53,100.00 - $90,600.00 / Annually
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
