About the Role
Title: Senior Communications Officer
Location: Sydney - Greater West Australia
Job Description:
Location - Parramatta - 50% Hybrid
Full time temporary opportunity until 31 December 2026 (35 hours per week)
Salary from $129,464 to $142,665 pa. + super and annual leave loading
Your role
The Senior Communications Officer will plan, create, deliver and evaluate communications activities that align with the Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO's) strategy. This includes the development and implementation of creative external and internal communications across the AHO.
What you'll do
- Design, implement and coordinate communications activities that help the AHO communicate with its diverse communities, including tenants and Aboriginal Community Housing Providers (ACHPs).
- Work in partnership with creative organisations to develop communications underpinned by representation and self-determination.
- Look for opportunities to review communications content (across all platforms) and introduce new frameworks including cultural protocols.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to coordinate important external and internal events, including event planning and on-day delivery.
- Plan and create a range of communications across platforms - such as video, print and digital.
- Develop communications guides and protocols to ensure strong positioning for the AHO.
What we're looking for
- Self-motivated and can make balanced decisions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the regional teams.
- Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal cultural beliefs and attitudes and of the socio-economic position of Aboriginal people within Australian society, and of their impacts in relation to housing. A thorough understanding of the Aboriginal political and historical impacts upon policy developments in NSW and nationally in relation to Aboriginal land rights, and Aboriginal land use.
